Value for money.
Posted .I have been a gadget freak all my life. I have owned number of gadgets ranging from cellphones, pda's to mp3 players. I've been using the z22 for a few days and have found it to be a great product for anyone not concerned with wireless, a large handheld display screen or extended memory. The install for the z22 was easy and worked flawlessly. I tried the install via the usb port on Macintosh System X and Windows XP formats. The installation program pulled all my old palm info into the Z22; memos, contacts, calendar and task functions were all maintained in the upgrade. Some of the older applications were not compatible with the Palm 5 OS on the z22. Most of the problems apps were old games that I was not that concerned about. Colors are bright and reading the screen is easy in light or dark settings. The battery lasts a long time. I once used a Palm M515 color palm and it needed recharged a lot more than the Z22 does. The advertised time of 8 hours between charges is probably accurate. The size and weight of this device is very light - it is not much bigger than my pager and fits very comfortably in a pocket.

Pleasantly Surprised
Posted .I have been using a paper calendar/date book for 10 years and thought I should upgrade to digital. I chose the Z22 because of the simplicity and great price! It has so many great features!! I love how easy it is to use!! It turns on as fast as a light switch and syncs in seconds! It's not a hassle to update my calendar on my computer when it takes such little time! I can add things quickly to my shopping list and jot down notes without messing with trying to find pen and paper in my bag. Something I never thought I would use is the eReader. But I can't get enough of it! It's so nice to have several books with you in a compact item. It's very clear and you can make the font larger to your liking! You can even dog-ear pages! This Palm is well worth the price and succeeded my expectations, I recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade from pen and paper!

Great organizer with no frills
Posted .I spent a good deal of time reviewing the field of handheld organizers that are currently available. I decided to purchase the Z22 for a few reasons: 1. It was available at a local store. 2. It was made by Palm, who I think does a great job with the operating system design. 3. The aesthetic design and form factor are very attractive. After using this a couple of days, I can tell it is going to help me get more organized. I'm starting my own consulting business, and I really needed a tool like this to help me keep track of a multitude of details. Already, I feel more peace of mind about getting a handle on things. I have two computers I am synching the Palm Z22 with, one running Vista, and another running XP. The XP machine works great. The Vista one not so well. There are issues with running either the older v.4 Palm desktop or the newer version which you can download from the Palm website. Neither version gives me all of the features I need. Hopefully as time goes on the Vista support will improve. If Wi-Fi is a big deal for you, definitely go for another model, as the Z22 has no capability for that. You can use some third-party programs like Plucker to download websites to browse offline, but the small screensize means that is relatively limited in its usefulness. One small point of dissatisfaction has to do with the pricing of the item. It was listed as a sale item on BestBuy.com for $89.99, but I ended up paying $99.99 at the store. I'm not sure why there is a difference in what I had to pay, but it was slightly irksome.

Solid and Useful
Posted .A class of mine required us to research PDAs and find one that would suit our needs without costing an arm and a leg. Well, here it is. I don't personally need internet connectivity, which was really the biggest difference between the z22 and its competitors. Most of the reviews I read considered the z22 to be the perfect starter PDA and they were absolutely right. I have owned it for a month now and carry it everywhere with me. I installed Pocket Quicken to track my spending, and I use the Contacts and Calendar features every day. The battery life is outstanding - I charge about once a week, and I really do use it several times every day. Very convenient to take out and about. I generally use the Graffiti feature for all my data entry and it is almost perfect - the lowercase r is rarely recognized. Guess I just need to get used to writing it REALLY BIG!

Just what this mother of Teenagers needed
Posted .I bought this PDA to keep up with my two teenagers conflicting practice and rehearsal scheduals, not to mention my own. So keep in mind my opinions are for strickly home based use. One of the major reasons I purchased a PDA was to set reminders for myself. I needed a little bell to tell me who needed to be picked up or dropped off where and when. This little unit meets and exceeds this need. I love that I can set what date reminders are to start and what date they end as well as how often they reminde me inbetween. With this software not only does my PALM reminde me when I'm out, but, when I sync the information to my dasktop, my computer remindes me when I'm working at home. I can set it to reminde me of birthdays every year. I enter the date once and it remindes me ahead of time every year. Battery life is awsome and it charges fast when nedded. My palm is suprisingly durable. It fell out of my purse, landed on the pavement and slid across the sidewalk. I was shocked to see it didn't even scatch the screen. Although I have no plans to repeate this test of endurance, I was very happy to see the little unit was not as fragile as I would have thought. That said, I will insest in a case soon. It's also small enough to replace my purse size calendar in my purse and actually take up less space than the calendar. It's very easy to use. The only problem I had was figuring out the hadnwriting recognition. Here's a big hint, the screen you need to write on is actually at the bottom of the screen where the short cut buttons are. Once I figured that out, it was only a matter of practice. I easiliy typed in all the phone numbers and addresses I had in my rolodex at home into the Palm program on my computer, and now I have them at my finger tips and on my computer. I like that the software is smart enough to default to the latest entry when I sync the handhelp unit to my desktop. When I update something on either, the latest update is what in saved on both when I sync. If I were to design one specificly for my own use, I would add a few options to the software, such as expanded filing options for both the contacts and expenses. I like the expenses idea, but I need catagories for expenses that are more personal and not strickly something you would use as a business expense. Overall, I understand these things are used for business and I am something like a square peg. Still, I would (and do) reccomend this to all the soccer mom's out there. I've instructed my daughters that they are to enter every activity I am expected to attend, drop them off at or pick them up from. It has also been a great help at preventing double bookings. Now, instead of trying to remember what the family has written on the calendar at home, I have it at my fingertips!

Great Product
Posted .Great Product! Everything is so easy to do, like the way you can read everything, so clear and you can get your information fast. You can write your notes to yourself by hand. Have your appointments put in and then have it remind you days in advance so you know ahead of time. The games are fun to play and it is just a very good product. I would say you can't go wrong with this Palm. I had a different one before and this one is 100 percent better, it was a different brand and had many problems with it, but this one- So Far So Good!

Good value, easy to use
Posted .Wife asked for a PDA since she was tired of using an address book. Not being computer literate, she needed something simple and user friendly. Being an owner of a Palm already, I leaned toward Palm and based on the tech specs, felt it fit her needs. After opening the box and loading on her computer, she is very pleased with the Palm Z22 and is moving into the tech age.

Good entry level Palm
Posted .This does everything I need it to do and more. One draw back: I think the alerts drain the battery. They turn the Palm on any time of day or night, and I think I might stop using them. I'm on my second Z22 after water got into the case I was using around my first one. Even so, the Palm worked pretty well after being blow-dried; I think it just didn't hold a charge. One beef: How come I had to pay as much for my second one as for my first even though a couple years had passed? Shouldn't this have come down a bit by now?
