Replaced my old unit with this new one. So far no problems. It provides all the inputs I need for my hi-amp receiver, 4K TV, ROKU, and DVD players. Should be a good investment for my home theatre setup.
Having bought a new 4K flat screen TV from Best Buy, I wanted to go the next step and protect the purchase by acquiring a quality multi outlet surge protector. Obviously went back to Best Buy and had the staff there provide the options and decided on the Panamax 8-Outlet Surge Protector that enabled me to have multiple electronic plugs and a reasonably priced but high quality surge protecting device to protect my purchase. The Panamax device looks really sharp and fits the area behind the TV just right. I’m very pleased with the choice and the purchasing experience at Best Buy!!!
PanaMax is the best in electronic protection I have a couple of their units and they have never allowed any damage during the Florida thunder and lightning storms. They may seem pricey but if you compare it to what you are plugging it into your elecktronicks are much more. These are only a fraction of the price of everything that you are protecting. They last almost forever and you will not waste money buying the best! Protect Your Investment
Before I purchased this product I consulted with a few friends of mine in the electronics field. All agreed that: 1) the electrical current provided by utility companies is guaranteed noisy & irregular and 2) electronic devices AND appliances will operate better & potentially longer when given a clean current or a pure wave. Although I cannot perform my own independent tests confirming their statements or all what the manufacturer claims, I still feel better about using this product for my computer & peripheral devices because what they say makes total sense to me. BTW, the next time I'm near my Best Buy store, I intend to purchase another Panamax for all my entertainment devices since a Magnolia rep did a power strip comparison for me.....and I definitely HEARD the improvement in audio response when using this particular item.
To start off, I'll say Panamax does not come cheap. However, everything that is plugged into this power condition will most likely be more expensive. So why not spend the money on proper protection.
The reason I bought this conditioner is because I recently suffered a brown out, that's when there isn't enough power to go around, and my Xbox One is now dead. I was lucky my television, soundbar, Roku, PS4 and ORBI all survived but it really got me thinking since they were all connected to the same power strip. I didn't want to lose anything else so I decided to step up and spend a little extra money now, so I wouldn't have to later.
The design is great, the outlets are high quality, and it is easily wall mountable. The high current outlets and filtration definitely make a difference, I instantly saw better black levels in dark scenes on my television when powered by the panamax vs my other power strip.
Save yourself some pain in the future and buy a panamax.
I have a rack mounted Panamax unit for my home theater system. However, in the bedrooms, where I have "stand-alone", wall-mounted TVs, I use this Panamax because it easily mounts on the wall behind each TV. I am a proponent of this particular model because it conditions the power and also shuts down in low-voltage situations. Voltage spikes can obviously damage equipments but, low-voltage conditions can be just as devastating. I think a power conditioning unit is always better if your budget allows for it. Years ago, a Panamax power conditioner saved thousands of dollars of connected equipment from a spike that destroyed non-connected devices. Ever since, I've been a believer and only rely on Panamax.
I know the importance of having good surge protection with electronic components, but was at first a little skeptical on the power conditioner piece and what it could do. After asking several of my friends who work as sound engineers and DJs, who all convinced me that clean power made all the difference in their work, I took their advice and got this. Well, I think it really does seem to make a difference! Aside from the fact that I wish it had a few more outlets, music and video now seem "noise free" and if it's solely as the result of this unit, hey I'll take it! I haven't had a chance to test any of its' extreme surge protective qualities and hope I never have to. So, while this is an expensive addition to an already expensive system, I think it's worth it for the peace of mind if you have high end AV equipment like I have.
