Panasonic - 1 Disc(s) 3D Blu-ray Disc Player - 1080p - Black

I bought this item to replace an old DVD player that stopped working. A year before buying this item, I bought my first Blu-ray DVD player for a new TV at home. I bought model DMP-BD87 because I read it was a good buy in the consumer report. It has been working great since then. Again, I read in the consumer report the new model DMP-BD91 was a good buy also. It works great, but I had minor issues setting up the Wifi connection. My previous model connects to the internet through the LAN wire, and it connects to TV sets thru RCA or HDMI. This new one I installed it wireless and it has no option to connect thru RCA, just HDMI. I recommend you have an extra HDMI cable for it when you buy it. To connect it to my home network, I first tried my guess network connection. I never passed the set up splash screen and it crashed, and it needed to be shut down to get it back working. After several failed attempts, I tried my private/secure network. Once I set up the password, the DVD player has been working perfectly. I connect to the internet quickly and stream Youtube videos without any trouble.

For the last several years I have had an on again off again affair with Panasonic video electronics. 2 50 inch HD TVs and 4 bluray players later my most recent bluray player is once again a Panasonic BD91 to replace my aging BD77. I was looking for 2 things in a new player and found that the 91 was the best bang for the buck. 1st is the small footprint. This unit is smaller than my cable box and since it doesnt have a front display just a simple red LED to indicate power, it can sit on top of the cable box and not bring attention to itself.. 2nd it needed to support both dts hd master audio and Dolby truhd via DLNA which it does flawlessly by the way. It also has a very good selection of streaming applications which I don't concern myself with but they are there. Since it is also a bluray player it plays dvd and bd disks flawlessly plus since it is a Panasonic smart unit it works perfectly with my Panasonic smart TV. If you are looking for an inexpensive bluray player with a good set of features and excellent picture quality I highly recommend the Panasonic BD91.

This is a small light weight unit that has a good picture. The negatives are that it does not display anything on the front of the unit. You have to have it hooked up to a TV to see what song is playing if you are playing a CD. Plus it has only got an HDMI out on the back of unit. It has no other option of an optical audio out. So unless you have a receiver with HDMI hook ups you can only get sound from the TV speakers. The best way is to run a HDMI cable from the player to a receiver that from the receiver to the TV. HDMI cables are not included and you need two for the set up with a receiver. For the 79 dollars that I paid and since I am using it in my garage it is ok.

Love the quality of the picture, ease of use, and the very capable USB streaming function. Unlike my sony blu-ray player, this unit accepts my 1 tb USB hard drive and streams the formats I've used (avi, mp4) with very good picture quality. The only knock on this product appears to be a software glitch in their instant on power feature. The feature is supposed to offer faster start ups due to the unit actually going into a sleep type mode rather than powering down. Unfortunately, when I attempted to use this feature, I experienced lock ups routinely with the unit. Once I disabled this feature, the lock ups went away completely and I've had no issue since. Even with this feature problem (which really isn't needed anyway), I would recommend this blu-ray player. I give it a 4 out of 5 instead of a 5 of 5 due to this glitch.

Got this because my old blu-ray player wouldn't play the newest blu-rays I've been getting. I'm using an HDMI cable with it and the picture is amazing. It's the same cord I used with my old player, but it looks better through this new one. No complaints, super easy to set up and to continue to use.

I purchased this for 2 reasons... First to play Blu-Rays, second to watch Netflix. It's quiet, quick, simple to set up, and simple to use. The remote even has a Netflix button, which means I don't have to search for anything. I'm fairly basic in my technology know how, so this has been simply wonderful because it's just so easy to use! I reviewed many before I purchased and I'm thrilled that I chose this one!

I'm in a family that loves Apple products, so when I was looking for a Blu Ray player, I was thinking I'd just get an Apple TV for the netflix and other stuff and get a generic Blu Ray player to save money. While I don't get all the features that an Apple TV has obviously, this player is pretty great. Netflix works well, it plays blu rays well, and I honestly can't complain about it. It's pretty great.
