    Just one thing missing

it is everything I had hoped for. Missing articulating screen though. I didn't think it would be a big issue coming from 6 years of Sony nex model cameras. But the camera quality makes up for that factor. For those who want the Best option from a smartphone this is it. The zoom really helps out for taking close ups without getting close! Very pocketable and the price is right.

On a recent trip through southern Utah, I took several hundred pictures. I was shooting raw+jpg and found that the in-camera jpg processing leaves a lot to be desired. The jpgs were pretty flat and a bit murky. However, a little tweaking on the raw photos really demonstrated the outstanding performance that this camera is capable of. The panorama mode is seamless. Focus is spot on. Response is quick. Low light performance is good. This is not a camera for the casual shooter as the number of features is daunting, but a little study of the manual and some field practice will really pay off.

Another great 4K video/very capable stills Panny

The 4 K video, to start with is now in the compact point and shoot realm. Very pocketable, very convenient. I have seen very little difference in picture quality between this and its larger cousins, the lx100, fz1000. Not as robust, but perfect picture quality for the average family and beginner. Yet it really is packed with features that should not be in this price range. Panasonic really wanted to set the bar for this part of the market. And they succeeded. There is nothing else like it on he market. Sony comes close but not the same value of features. I got an open box and was skeptics that this little point and shoot could really hold its own with Panasonic's other groundbreakers. And it compliments the others perfectly. Again, this is perfect for the average family and beginner who want some of the very latest technology and quality in such a small camera. Superbly done, Panasonic!!!!

Best point and shoot camera so far

This camera is more than what I expected. In shopping for a point and shoot camera for my trip there were two qualities that I needed. 1. delivers quality photos close to my SLR. 2. being that I am a true novice/beginner, SIMPLE!! This camera has superseded all my expectations. The quality of the photos came out better than my SLR (Nikon 3200). Maybe it's because this camera has a feature (with the option to disable) to display a brief description of what each setting does. For a "dummy", this was really helpful (recall, I am a beginner so I have very little skill and understanding of f/stops, ISO, etc). All that matters is, all my shots were in focus and the quality is AMAZING! . The only con I have is its a bit bulky as a pocket camera.

    Great zoom, awesome in daylight

The zoom available with this sensor puts it in a class of its own. And with the larger sensor, the zoom is actually usable. I also tested the Sony, also large sensor, but way less zoom. The Sony excelled in low light, a stop or more faster, and the Panasonic excelled in zoom, as expected. So what do you need more? For my wife, she wanted the zoom, and is thrilled with the picture quality. If you need more low light, go Sony, but realize your shots will hardly looked zoomed in. Note also that the Panasonic has a really low f stop, great for isolating your subject, but not so great when you want an f16 with lots of depth of field. I think this is why they need post-focus, to pick the right frame since DOF is so limited.

    Excellent camera

large sensor, very good with low light shooting. Note: The RAW files are hard to edit because they are not supported in the standalone version of Lightroom and other installed apps. You need to use Adobe online (9.99 a month). That said, the JPEG output is sufficient for almost all of the scenarios. It has all the "advanced" features like HDR shooting, 4K video, etc. See detailed review at dpreview. About the only con I can think and it has nothing to do with the camera - there is no standard camera case. I had to buy a synergy digital case.

Almost perfect camera of this size out today

    • My Best Buy® Elite Plus Member

Almost perfect specifically for my use / needs - which is that I wanted a camera that is small, has a long zoom, touchscreen, and as a large a sensor size as possible. Note that having a long zoom in this size sacrifices possible aperture for the lens, but I knew this going in. If you need large aperfure (f1.8-f2.8, etc.) then cameras such as RX100 III or IV are available but with significant less zoom.

I read a number of reviews and knew the camera was what I wanted. Picture quality was amazing and I'm not done finalizing my settings. Took a number of photos in the Redwoods with filtered lighting. Took still and action (zip line) shots and the pictures came out well. Expensive but worth it. I also found the camera was not slipping out of my hand as some reviews revile

Part of Panasonic's "travel zoom" series of compacts -- hence its alternate names TZ100 in the UK and TZ110 in Australia -- the ZS100 goes head-to-head with the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV . That's a pretty good deal for its price, as well: $700,Full Review
