What a great tablet, considering the price!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhile shopping for a tablet in the $200 - $400 range, I ran across the Pandigital SuperNova on sale for $189. So immediately, I started comparing it to a couple of other name brand tablets that were in that price range. The first thing I noticed was: the SuperNova is 8 inches, vs the 7 inch size the others were. While this means I won't be sticking it inside one of my pockets, it does fit well in a small case about the size of a textbook, or a velvet bag. The extra inch is beneficial when you are watching movies and/or video viewing, doing a live video call via Skype, or typing product reviews, email, etc. The unit comes with 4 gb memory, and you can add up to a 32gb micro sd memory card. According to Pandigital support - you will probably want to use at least a class 4 card, or better. It is extremely easy to use. It comes with around 25 apps. And you can get more from Amazon's android apps market, getjar.com, and freewarelovers.com. There may be other sites, but I haven't taken the time to look. Unlike some tablets, the SuperNova does have a front and back camera. It readily connected to my Linksys Wifi home network. Using Bluetooth, I was able to connect it to my cell phone - and via both USB and Bluetooth, I was able to successfully connected it to my desktop PC. Even though I have not tried it yet - I would imagine it would connect to my WiFi printer. You can connect a keyboard and mouse to the SuperNova via the mini-usb port, or via Wifi. Note: This comes in handy when using a MS compatible office suite like QuickOffice Pro. The touchscreen works very well, the keyboard is responsive and the "keys" are large enough for average size fingers. Games, movies, videos, and web surfing works well and displays clearly. The output video mode can be set as high as 1080, and there is a built-in hdmi port so if you want to connect it to your TV. As far as reading - it comes with a built in Barnes and Noble app. I also installed a Kindle app, and the tablet does read PDF's, DOC, EPubs, Text files, etc. with no problem. Note: The SuperNova's screen brightness can be adjusted, so you won't have to worry about screen glare. There is also an automatic screen brightness setting available. In regards to battery life - I have read some review sites claim 12.5 hours. I have not had it continuously on that long. However, I have worked on it for 3-4 hours at a time and the battery was less than a third drained. I would dare say, the battery life depends on multiple factors like: How bright you have the screen set for, and exactly what you are doing. On any device, watching movies and videos drains the battery faster than reading an eBook, surfing the net, etc. Another viable option is to leave the unit plugged in while using it. Upgrades - Pandigital currently comes with Android 2.3. And unlike some other relative inexpensive tablets on the market, (i.e. Coby) - they do provide firmware upgrades. Security - there is a log-on password option available you can use. In contacting Pandigital customer service via email and phone. I discovered they respond to emails within 24 hours, and their phone support personnel are very friendly and very helpful. The only negative items are: In calling their phone support - it usually takes about 45 minutes to get a live person. BUT, once you do get a live person, they will take the time to fully answer your question(s) and explain things in detail. Being slightly hard of hearing, I wish the built-in stereo speakers were a little bit louder. For most people though, it is probably okay. You can plug in a headset if you would like. Bottom line: I consider this tablet well worth what I paid for it, and would highly recommend it.

Better than you'd think
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFirst off, yes this tablet DOES have access to the Android Market. It just needs to be loaded. The unit has not been "hobbled" or modified to restrict any user software - Android is an open OS, so the interface and software can be updated and modified in numerous ways without restriction - heck you can write your own software for the Android OS if you know how - no limits to the free Android apps a person can get access to. It only comes pre-loaded with GetJar for downloading apps out of the box, but I easily loaded Android Market, Amazon App Store and several other app resources. The only drawback is the Pandigital Customer Service, HOWEVER, you can find all the help you need for software and pimping your tablet on a user page over at Facebook (search FB for Pandigital) The Wifi connected smoothly out of the box to my router and finds Wifi sources immedately everywhere I go (McDonalds, airports, even while visiting someone in the hospital) The Bluetooth works well. It can also connect via USB to your PC. Front and rear facing cameras are great for Skype, photos and video - I have all my email, Facebook, do fast and easy internet browsing on the SuperNova. I've loaded software to create-edit MS Office documents, edit photos and video, I have both Kindle and Nook as well as Audible on this unit. I've loaded and use HBOGO, Epix, Crackle, Blockbuster, Netflix, Dish, MaxGo and many other streaming video apps seamlessly where I have Wifi access (Epix seems to have the best streaming) You can hook the HDMI up to stream from the SuperNova to your HD TV. The touchscreen is responsive and even works well with drawing apps.Battery life is average for any tablet and gets so much better when you load and use an App Manager like Gemini or Advanced Task Killer. I have 2 other tablets and ADORE this one - it goes everywhere with me. It's not an IPAD, but that has it;s own limiations (App Store and price) You cannot beat this tablet for the $.

Excellent for what it is!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI wanted to wait until I submitted my review: Purchased as a Christmas gift for my 13 year old. I played around with it for about 3 days, and LOST the ability to connect to a Secured WiFi - Open ones were fine. I called Pandigital and explained - within a week they had me an update with directions on what I needed to do. After I ran the FW update the Secured WiFi is perfect again. That has been my only issue. They were friendly and quick to claim responsibility. The Android Market is NOT installed. However we installed Amazon App Market and I love it because it is set up to send me e-mails when he downloads ANY apps. The screen is very responsive. He uses his tablet for reading and games. I have yet to hear of it being "slow" on any of them. We all run the Android OS on our phones - and this tablet is wonderful - In fact I'm about to have to go get another for my husband so he will stop stealing our sons!! We recently downloaded Skype - it works fine - image is a little grainy but for why we needed it - it was perfect. The front and rear cameras are a huge plus and really take nice pictures. The battery life seems to be great as much as my sons plays on it!!! This tablet is by far the BEST I have used / played with when it comes to reasonably priced. I will defiantly be buying another soon & have recommended to others. If I run into any other issues I’ll try and re-post. And so far I’m very impressed with Pandigital’s Support Center.

Great for the Price!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI picked this up earlier today from Best Buy, it was brand new shipment and stock. I have to say, I paid $169 before tax and I am more than okay with this tablet/eReader. It's easy to pick up and learn how to use it, it took me less than five minutes. Even though I can't access part of it due to issues at my home with Wifi, I picked up Best Buy's Wifi real quick and great signal strength. Even before I got the chance to do my screen calibration at home, it's really accurate. It's also really easy setup, I had it setup and running real quick. So far the SuperNova is quick, easy to use, and really nice for the price. The only issue I've found so far that isn't so nice is the battery life, I'ev yet to figure out it, but I ran it for about two hours or so before I started noticing the issue with the battery. I'm in love with it so far and I'm sure you will be too.

Worth the MONEY!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendToo many people are looking at these tablets as replacements for PC's or Laptops! They are NOT! They are Android devices, Media consumption devices, not computers. It's like comparing your laptop to a portable DVD player! Surf the web, read books, play SIMPLE games, and watch movies in MP4 format, don't buy these for work! This Pandigital is well worth the $199, it is fast, the screen is good in both display and function to touch, 2.3 Gingerbread is great! Don't compare it to a PC or Ipad, it's not either. When the girl at BB asked what I wanted to use it for I said "A toy, nothing else", because I have already owned another tablet. If you want a tablet PC spend $750 and buy something with Windows 7 on it, otherwise enjoy this GREAT product!

Big bang for the $
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy wife and I bought each other a Super Nova for Christmas and SUPER is the right name. I researched for 2 months before buying the tablet for my wife and went to the stores and tried the displays. The screen is very responsive, it is open to download Android Market without any changes and we have access to several reader apps. The battery life is more than adequate and we are just getting started with learning a tablet. Skype works great and we have chatted with family on several occasions. By far the best tablet for the price that I found anywhere.

Excellent e-reader for the price!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI did my research and came across the Pandigital Super Nova, the only major comparison (compared to the Kindle Fire and Nook Color; and I owned both) is that the screen resolution is not as good at only 800x600, but with the ease of use, 4 GB of internal memory, with the ability to expand up to 32 GB and the option to read whatever e-books you want, HDMI out put and free apps for GetJar, it is totally worth the trade off.

Good value for a techie
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought the SuperNova from Best Buy after returning the smaller Nova device which performed poorly. Though it’s design is unattractive the unit is very functional as a wannabe iPad. It comes with the Barnes and Noble reader and GetJar for loading applications which are both disappointing. But with some research it’s possible to get access to the Google Play and Amazon app markets. It runs the Kindle reader, Angry Birds, NetFlix, Temple Run, Words with Friends and card games well. The touch screen and onscreen keyboard are responsive. The 8” screen is not as bright as an iPad, and the viewing angle for good color representation is limited, but the size lends itself well to reading, browsing, playing games and watching movies. The size and weight are practical and the battery life is good enough to get through an entire day with frequent use. The cameras are just OK and Skype does not recognize them. A free firmware update corrected a problem that prevented BlueTooth and WiFi from working at the same time. The update also noticeably improved web browsing speed. The Android 2.3 O/S provides a gritty but adequate user experience. It’s good for technophiles who are willing to work with it to make it useful, and from that perspective it’s well worth the price. I think it would be a bad experience for a ‘normal’ person trying to use it without the changes mentioned earlier.
