Penny Dreadful is perhaps one of the most well crafted TV show in decades. Gothic and alluring, the show has the ability to suck you in like blackholes swallow light and well...everything else. The storylines are magnetic, the acting is superb; especially that of Eva Green, and the cinematography is simply impeccable. Nothing is wasted in the world of Miss Vanessa Ives, as she faces the monsters and demons that throughout centuries have collectively terrify us and made us fear the dark. Miss Ives relishes in the light, but cannot resist the darkness that haunts her relentlessly and unequivocally. The gallery of characters that accompany or antagonize Vanessa, are as equally charming, provocative, and mysterious as our heroine is.
There has never been anything like Penny Dreadful before, and never will again because the fabric which it is made of (beauty, sadness, heart, pain, and darkness) is a rare combination hardly anyone can master.
An absolutely great cast and an outstanding John Logan make Penny worth every dollar you'll spend buying it.
There's just something about Penny Dreadful that makes me want to elevate my language into the more poetic, elegant English of Victorian literature: Aye, gorblimey guvnuh that Eva Green is a right brilliant totty, cheers jolly good. Just kidding, I don't know what any of that means, I can barely speak American let alone anything approaching the frequently next-level vocabulary of Penny Dreadful. Regardless, no discussion about this instant classic series can start anywhere other than how amazing Eva Green is. Eva Green is perfect basically. Her intense, frightening, eerily cool, tour-de-force performance was the centerpiece of Penny Dreadful and is what held together an otherwise unwieldy monster like the tightest of stitches. I'm not saying we should give Eva Green all of the awards for her work here, but if she doesn't win them then awards are MEANINGLESS.

flawless tv series
This is by far my favorite series I have ever seen next to game of thrones. I am very sad it was only 3 seasons, I feel like it had SO much more potential for other seasons. The extra bonus footage is very interesting, and as with all bluray, picture quality is amazing. I would recommend bluray over dvd purely because this is a very dark show, lots of shadows and night. To me, dvd quality just doesn't cut it. It always seems lacking in the depth of the blacks and shadows, kind if blurring when it shouldn't be. If that makes sense, I'm weird and picky though.
I'm a big fan of the penny dreadful series, so when the season 3 abruptly ended i, was highly disappointed.there was so much potential for the characters 2 evolve. hopefully just maybe the writers will surprise us with another season. This is worth the purchase if you are a die hard fan.
I'm loving the cover
Everything was great in this season except the final outcome, the people in charge of this series should be utterly ashamed of themselves for destroying a great series, they really dropped the ball on this one, all the stars that gave there all and worked so hard deserved better. Great series gone too soon.
Not any characters name but based on a magazine published in the mid 1800's. A great dramatic & horrifying series utilizing various famous horror characters from different sources & authors & weaving them into this series together . Eva Green should win an Emmy for her part in this truly great series.

Dark season with a peaceful end.
Excellent series with some incredible acting by Eva Green and the rest of the cast. Her character as Vanessa Ives with supernatural gifts are powerful and useful to those around her, but they are also a heavy burden. Her inner demons may be more real than emotional as they threaten to destroy her relationships, her sanity and her very life. A difficult and intense role which she portrayed very well.
