Great Live Versions of Pet Sounds Classics
||Posted .If you already own the Pet Sounds Box Set or the previously released Stereo/Mono CD version of this great album you will not be hearing anything new in regards to CD1; however, CD2 is the real reason to buy this set if you already own the aforementioned releases. On CD2 you get the original backing instrumentals of the entire Pet Sounds album minus the vocals and newly released live versions of some songs off of the Pet Sounds album. The live releases are the real gems of CD2. It is great to hear this incredible and talented band perform live versions of these songs. Most interesting is comparing earlier live versions of the songs to later versions of these same songs and the improvements the band made in these subsequent performances. It is also comical to hear Mike Love's mostly lackluster comments to the audience (some of them are actually OK) but on a few the band just starts to play to basically stop him from talking! I can't give this 5 stars since the liner notes are lacking in regards to details on the players of the live venues.

Creativity at its best
||Posted .Pet Sounds passed the 50-year mark since its release in 1966. Borne out of Brian Wilson’s inability to tour with the rest of the band, “Pet Sounds” was meticulously arranged by Wilson Himself. Conceived by Wilson as an attempt to create a cohesive work of art, “Pet Sounds” is an early concept album. The themes of love, both lost and found, and struggling to relate to the world are found consistently throughout the record. It's creativity at its best.

Great Album, Great Re-mastering
||Posted .One of the best rock albums of all time. (I was not particularly enamored when it was first released in the '60s, but have since realized how great it is.) I already owned the 1990 edition of this CD. The sound quality on this re-master is excellent -- far superior. And the stereo versions of all the original tracks are superb. Kudos to Mark Linett. Do not hesitate -- buy it.

A sonic upgrade for a timeless classic
||Posted .This is the third of fourth time the stereo remix of Pet Sounds has been reissued since the record's 30th anniversary. This release has a bright, clear finish to the overall sound and comes with a good selection of bonus tracks, some of which have been available for years, and some of which are collected for the first time on this CD.

Exclusives Rule!
||Posted .I appreciate the availability of Best Buy exclusives and check to see what new ones are offered periodically. This classic Beach Boys album came with a free mail-in offer that was filled within a week of my sending it in. Thank you for these special offerings which only become more collectible as time goes by. Keep it up!

A great CD!
||Posted .In a nutshell, Brian Wilson is the Mozart of our time. This cd also includes the instrumental tracks separately, as well as mono and stereo versions. In my opinion, two songs..."Good Vibrations" and "God Only Knows" are two of the best songs ever written by Brian Wilson.

One of the best albums ever
||Posted .Outstanding album. Possibly the best pop album ever. Remaster is done well. An improvement over the Pet Sounds Sessions box set, if you have that from the 90's. A little pricey for an album of this age, that has been released multiple times in multiple packages.
