Very Nice Looking
|Posted .Overall this is a very elegant looking item. And it puts out some great sound. The only problems I saw with it were that unless you have a very slim case on your phone, you cannot dock it. And setting up your alarms (there are two) can be kind of confusing. Besides that I would rather be setting an alarm from my phone (which you can do) rather than from the dock. But the nice thing about that is the fact that the phone does not have to be in the dock to have an alarm set I guess. You also might find it taking up a lot of space on the nightstand. But comparing it to the price of some of the other docks out there, this item is a great buy.

Wow, why spend $$$+ money on Bose?
Posted .I've got this unit playing on a pillar in our Kitchen where it has sat and continues to sit with our iPod resting nicely out of the vehicle and we use it to wake up on weekends with gentle music in the house. It is a great investment! I would like another in our office but I don't spend the time in there to justify it right now... While working on taxes, Ours will live in the office then after taxes perhaps we'll be able to get another for several other rooms. The kids would love the interface! Just setup the iPod and select play on the tiny remote. Some logistics on the remote could be better and the display could show song title... but I love the sound!

Philips clock docking entertainment system DC290B
Posted .Nice looking clock radio but difficult to program . You have to get out bed and hit the snooze button what's the sense. This fetcher is available on other alarm clocks . Its like having an alarm clock from the early 70's.

Excellent radio, sound, range, remote, everything!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have had this radio for11 months now (Christmas 2011 gift) and nothing bad has happened with it. The sound quality is excellent, the radio sound can be adjusted to favor classic music, rock, pop, and jazz. It also supports something called DBB but I don't know what that is. The battery used to power the radio during power outages takes almost 2 months to burn out with no power, and the remote battery The radio includes a "pigtail/wire/whip" antenna that can used for radio enthusiasts to receive long range signals, and this has the sensitivity of a car radio, if not better. I can receive a radio station from 90 miles away with no static. You can preset 20 stations with ease, and it goes from 87.5 to 108.0 FM. It goes up 100KHz (87.5 to 87.6 for example) and it has an auto search scan which you can do by pressing the left/right button and holding until the numbers go up/down very fast, then you let go of the remote. The only bad thing I have experienced is when I brought this to my friend's house 500 feet from a FM tower, the radio kept changing input sources every few minutes, but I think that's just a defect in my radio only. This radio, even though I purchased it at 100 dollars, is a great value. It lets me listen to a greater variety of stations because of it's sensitivity (even though you need to extend the wire antenna and have it placed properly) and it can receive stations from 90 miles away and has received stations from 200 miles away before. The remote is very easy to use and has an autoscan feature, and it's battery hasn't died in the year I have had this radio.

Excellent bedrom sound
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFirst of all, let's not take it for what it's not. It's a Philips Alarm Clock Radio with iPhone/iPod Dock and it's not advertised or boxed as anything else. It's an alarm clock radio with an iPhone/iPod charging/playing dock Meaning, it will stay in the bedroom, close to bed, have a snooze button, display time, play your bedroom music and wake you up. It's not part of your iPhone/iPod--it simply supplements it. Dock your iPod/iPhone and the radio synchronizes its time to your iPod/iPhone--one less thing to deal with after a power outage, or if you like to keep your stuff unplugged while away from home or while on vacation. When pressing the snooze button, three display brightness levels are cycled, plus DISPLAY OFF. That is a fantastic feature if you keep your alarm clock right next to your bed and like your device to be as dim as possible or OFF. How many alarm clocks offer that? Display isn't that great and can be hard to tell what time it is from too far away. However, I don't live in the bedroom and alarm tells me when it's time to wake up at a preset time--that's the whole point of an ALARM CLOCK RADIO. Alarm 1 can be set for Mon - Fri or Sat - Sun. Same for Alarm 2. Wake up to radio, AUXiliary input, your music (plays LAST thing played on your iPhone/iPod, be it Music, Pandora, some Radio App) or built-in, gradually increasing, sensible chime. The sound quality for the bedroom coming out of this thing is truly amazing, considering the package size. Very nice, deep bass, clear highs. Bass boost can be switched on/off. iPhone/iPod dock has a hinged flip cover to protect from dust when not used. There are no fitted dock adaptor beds for different iPhone/Pod generations to deal with, so if you have a very slim case on your iDevice you'll probably be able to keep it on like I am. Read your instruction manual entirely. Too many people try to figure out the product without reading the owner's manual and have a nerve to complain that something doesn't work--that frankly comes down to laziness and INCOMPETENCE. Did you build it? NO. What the heck makes you think you'll be able to figure it out? You might learn something cool about your product by reading the instructions. If you can find this on sale for $50 and you happened to be in the market for an alarm clock radio with iPod/Phone dock, GRAB IT. One thing to note: It has ONLY FM radio. No AM radio. But iPhones/iPods can be equipped with radio apps that have AM radio streams.

WOW Philips!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI spoke with my mother the other day about what to get my stepdad for Xmas this year and she suggested an iPhone dock. I am a huge lover of electronics so I headed to my local Best Buy to check some out. I personally own the Monster Beatbox by Dr. Dre, and think that it is one of the best you can buy, but my budget was $100. When I arrived at Best Buy there were many different docks available to try out. This Philips seemed to sound the best in the store, so I bought it for $99.99. When I got home, I opened it, and tested it out further. I wanted to make sure it wasn't defective and see how it sounded in a smaller room with music I was familiar with. All I can say is WOW!!! For such a small clock radio this thing can really put out some good sound. So good in fact, I went back the next day to get one for my bedroom. To my pleasant surprise they were now on sale for just $49.99! Best Buy refunded me $50 on the first one I bought, so I ended up with 2 for just $100! I am a very critical listener and truly believe that this is a steal for such a low price. An added bonus is the included FM radio and clock, which my Monster Beatbox does not have. If you are in the market for an iPhone dock in the $100 or less budget, do yourself a favor and get this Philips!

Great product for everyday use
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a good alarm clock radio, for this price the sound quality is good, it's easy to use. The only thing I don't like is each time I turn it on/off, the DIM light level always go back to its maximum.

Excellent, by all means...!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this on Thanksgiving, and to my surprise this turned out to be a great purchase. This is one good quality product from Philips. Basically, i have used Sony docks and i have listened to other high end speaker docks for iPhone, i use my phone4 for music, and the sound quality is just as good, or even better than other expensive ones. Actually i was surprised with GREAT BASS and very good overall sound, the radio has very good reception with good remote control function. AND it is compatible with iPhone 4 AND it charges it too, so i don't know why someone had issue with charging. The color and design is cool, requires less space and looks v good in the room, i also like the clock/Radio display with dim and bright settings. I have not tested alarms yet but i guess it will be fine too. Overall v happy with my purchase at $50, could nt get the same quality product for even 150, its WAY better than all others out there. GRAB IT!!!!
