Easy to use and nice and bright
||Posted .Finally an E26 bulb which can light a whole room. The previous hue starter kit with the non-lux bulbs did some some cool things in that it could change colors. Unfortunately the bulbs weren't bright enough to use as a primary light source. The lux bulbs change that. Now you can't change colors but the lights are bright enough to actually be used as a light. Still have a dimming function. The whole system is by far the easiest home lighting system out. I've tried WeMo and other wifi solutions and none work as reliably and easily as the hue system.

Hue lights work well
||Posted .Used this to link up with an Amazon Echo. Added another Phillips HUE light as well as some less expensive GE Wink compatible BR30 lights (which the HUE controller supports). The HUE bulbs work flawlessly with the controller and the Echo. The GE bulbs sometimes don't respond, but one of those was defective (has been replaced and now working much better). Overall, the system is easy to use, being controlled either by my iPhone or via voice commands on the Echo. You can create groups enabling you to control more than a single bulb (think several lights in a room or area), so even if you have a wall switch that controls many bulbs, you can create a group that just turns on a subset of those - pretty cool. Overall, a very easy to use system that is expandable, reliable, and flexible. Highly recommended.

Great...when it works.
||Posted .I purchased this item to provide an on/off switch for a living room light while I was out of town for about three months. I chose this method over a timer switch, because I could activated at any random time I chose. Things worked well for about six weeks, then a storm interrupted the power at my house, and when the service was restored, the app on my phone could no longer find the Wi-Fi bridge. Since I still had six weeks to go on my trip this was a bit of a concern. But there was nothing I could do. When I got home one of the first things I did was go in and check the Wi-Fi bridge. The connect light was flashing, signifying that it could not find the light. I pressed the connect button, and it's been working fine. I guess I'm just concerned if this should ever happen again. I also have an IP camera, and that too was knocked out during the outage. However it recovered on its own while I was still out of town, without any assistance from me. I've had 2 IP cameras, and they can be finicky, so now I'm left to wonder, is the HUE even more finicky? My recommendation is, get it if you need just some basic automation, but don't count on it in situations where reliability is important.

Exactly what we needed
||Posted .We have gradually switched our entire home to LED bulbs. As you may know, they say dimmable, but with greatly varying degrees of success. To truely dim an LED, you need a PWM dimmer which is a DC circuit and therefor isn't available in any wall or lamp dimmer. In our media room, we could never get the level of light correct, always too bright or too OFF! With the Philips Hue lighting kit, you have a true broad range of dimming at you fingertips. The fact that you can do any of this with your tablet or smartphone is just icing on the cake. We have yet to explore geofencing and timer functions but imagine they will be equally useful, even more fun.

Good Starter Bundle From Philips
||Posted .I got a good deal with additional $10 off at the store. So if was a good bargain. The bundle contains the bridge and two dimmable smart LED bulbs. The bridge will require the provided Ethernet cable to connect to the home router. Power up the bridge and then use the smartphone app to control the lights. The product is good quality and works well. Very useful as light can be controlled even from out of the home wifi network. My only complain is about the smartphone app (android) that sometimes takes little longer to connect to the bridge. Other than that I like some of the predefined settings for light levels that you can have as shortcuts in your smartphone screen. Pressing them would set the desired light level to bulbs. I would recommend this product.

A Great Kit
||Posted .These bulbs are different than the standard ones as they do not change color (from 4300K). You can dim them and turn them off through wifi which makes it just another LED bulb with wireless capabilities. Finally they made an entry kit that is much cheaper than their original. IF you don't need color changing abilities, this is the kit to buy.

Must have for Light Automation with Harmony Remote
||Posted .I was hesitant to get into home automation, for fear that it might not work the way that I'd need. Another thing that made me hesitant was only wanting a white color scheme and not needing a varied color bulb for different moods. This was absolutely the setup that I needed, especially due to my needing the compatibility with Harmony Home Control. After going through the setup, there is a slight delay using the Harmony Home Control with the Phillips Hue Lux. Even with the delay, it is fantastic and plan on adding more bulbs to the current hub. I haven't completely looked into how to separate different rooms and if multiple hubs are needed, but that is definitely something I'll be considering for the rest of my house.

Excellent Product
||Posted .So the kit comes with everythinf you need to get started. The bulbs do fit into the domes that my ceiling lights at home have to cover the bulb without any issue. The app works really well to control the lights from in your home or away from home. There are plenty of third party apps to download as well for extra features. Works with Harmony Remote a big plus for me personally. Recently the wall switches havent been working flawlessy as when I first got them but I have been having issues with other internet devices in my home too so I am sure its an internet issue not a Phillips Hue issue. But just he aware that if you have poor wifi at home this might not be for you.

Q: QuestionIs the hue lux compatible with the regular hue lights?I bought the philips hue lights starter kit, and i love it and was wondering if the lux system would work with what i already own.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Absolutely! I wasn't sold on the color changing bulbs, I just wanted networked and centrally controlled lighting. I took the plunge with the starter kit with only white bulbs (lux) and a single Hue bulb. The only real downside is just the app is somewhat hard to use if you define light groups that contain both hue and lux bulbs, but other than that its pretty seamless!
