Great, but room for improvements
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would say I am quite happy getting the hue Tap Remote Switch. I got one for the living room and one for the kitchen. I can easily dedicate one theme to each button (three themes per unit) and it also has the OFF feature by clicking in the middle of the unit. It is very easy and handy to have this switch, instead of having to open the app on my phone each time I e.g. enters the kitchen to put the lights on and then off again when leaving. I used the included double sided tape to fasten the unit to the wall. It really stays sturdy on the wall and it has been sitting there for about two months now. I though miss the ability to use more themes from time to time without having to use the app on my phone. I therefore think this unit has room for improvements. Instead of only having one theme per button, it would be nice to allow for more themes. This could be manageable by letting the user e.g. double click on a button to get another theme. Right there, we would have twice as many themes per unit. A combination by clicking more than one button at a time could also work. I wish Philips can read my comment here and hopefully make it work in the future :-) As advertised, I would give this unit five stars, but I deduct one for less options than wanted.

Mostly like it but it's a little clunky
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm glad I picked this up because it is useful. The clicking of the buttons is a little clunky though. I mounted mine to the wall and if I don't press the 2,3, of 4 preset button perfectly, it registers as a click of the big 1 button. I seem to be getting the touch down because it's happening less frequently the longer I've had it. But I felt it was worth mentioning

Convenient
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice portable unit. Easy to set up, easy to program. It's nice to have a few choices if someone is using the tablet for something else.

Way faster than using the app
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Valuable little tool for making life easy. I have three installed in my main rooms to control 25 bulbs and strips and have set them all set up to do 3 different lighting schemes while the main button turns them all off. The app is fun and I have created dozens of "specialty" light schemes, but I would not use the lights nearly as much without the quick access the Tap buttons allow.

got to have two..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Hue personally. You will be wanting these for that familiar light switch feel that your phone just is too weird for always pulling out at say...2 AM... GENERAL BULB REVIEW: OK, yes they are expensive...But, they are awesome. If you buy only a couple at a time and wait for sales at Best buy (they DO have them from time to time) You can eventually have the whole house set up. Speaking of set-up, it is relatively easy for even a novice. I do have suspicions however, that they take up a bit of the bandwidth if that is an issue for you. They work best if your home is primarily light colored walls, as you can completely have a new look whenever you want to by uploading any picture or color scheme that suits your mood and...Bam, new paint!

Expensive, but convenient
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like pretty much all Hue products, the Tap Remote Switch is pricey. But it offers the convenience of not grabbing for your phone every time you want to change your lighting settings. I didn't mount it to a surface using the included peel and stick feature, choosing instead to use it as a switch than can be moved to wherever in the room it's needed. I wish it was cheaper but it was worth it for me.

Extremely useful for Hue System
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Without this device it would have been pretty tough to keep the hue system in our house - as much as i liked the lights - the lack of a switch sometimes made things cumbersome, being able to preset this to different settings was nice - program button one to on and a second push of button one to off - with 4 buttons i found it to be more then enough to accomplish what we needed so you didnt have to always get your phone - the only 2 issues that keep this from 5 stars -- first we placed this on the wall, buttons 1 3 and 4 are easy to push, but button 2, ( button on the right) can be hard to push, and sometimes registers as button 1 if you do not make sure you press it in the right fashion, the fact is uses kinetic energy makes it great for the lack of batters, but requires the button press to be a bit more cumbersome leading to problem we had. The second issue, is that it is not a smart device - meaning if you had button one configured for 1 push on second push off, it keeps track of itself from the perspective of if it is on press one or 2, not the light status -- meaning , if you press button 1 to turn the lights on, then turn them off with your phone, then press the button again, it will turn the already off lights off, making you have to press the button again, not a big deal, but a limitation for sure.

Q: QuestionCan this product be used in conjunction with the dimmer for the same room? So if I want to be able to use the dimmer to dim the light, but later decide to switch to a preset via the tap, am I able to do that?
Asked by Andrew72680.
- A:Answer Yes, I do not have a dimmer, but the tap works just like your phone. Just assign a pre-set light setup to each button and it will activate the scene an over lap whatever your dimmer is doing. I recommend the hue dynamic pro app which will let you assign multiple rooms to each tap button. My bedroom, living room, and bathroom each have their own tap and they are super convenient if you have several bulbs in your home.

Q: Questioni have 3 lights that are controlled by 1 115 volt switch . i would like to separate these on different switches . would this work for me.
Asked by bubba.
- A:Answer First you have to install Hue bulbs in each of your 3 fixtures. Once the bulbs are installed you can control them individually with this switch or with the HUE app that you download on your phone. You will have to have the HUE bridge to connect all your Hue equipment to your WiFi but once you do it gives you complete control everywhere you install Hue bulbs.

Q: QuestionDoes anyone know how to remove the back wall plate from the TAP. I see the Command Wall Strips that are to be peeled off and stuck to the wall, but I don't intend on using it like that, just placed on the desk. How does the back come off?
Asked by UpNorth.
- A:Answer The Tap twists counter clockwise off of the mount

Q: QuestionDoes this resolve the Hue issue of having to leave the actual wall light switch on in order to use any app to control the Hue bulbs? If yes, how?
Asked by GRIFFIKA.
- A:Answer Nope. I bought cheap light switch covers so guest will not use them.

Q: QuestionHow many hue lights will the tap switch control
Asked by Rocndc.
- A:Answer It has a recommended maximum of three rooms. So the maximum is the bridge maximum of 50 if all 50 are included within those three rooms.

Q: QuestionI have had one of these that control my hue lights. It is about 6 years old and has stopped working. I am thinking the battery is dead. Is there a way to replace it?
Asked by DaveL.
- A:Answer There is no battery. It's powered by kinetic energy. Keep pressing the buttons over and over and then I would remove the accessory from the Hue app and reinstall.
