    A Must Have

I have three of the taps with my lighting system. Having multiple people in the home, the tap makes it much easier to control and turn on and off the lights. It is limited with only 4 buttons, but it does what it's suppose to do. They have been adding more features to each button. For example, if you hit a button once, it will turn on the lights you have programed. If you hit the same button twice, you can set it to dim 50% or even to turn off the lights programmed to that button.

A "Must Have" Addition to any Hue Light Set-up!

Hue is an outstanding light system. However, here are frequent times when you want to turn the lights on or off without using your iPhone or iPad. Enter Hue Tap! Using kinetic energy, now a simple press, and Hue is on or off! This is a necessary addition to any Hue Lighting set-up. The kinetic energy design is a first, and is appropriate, considering Hue is an energy saving LED light system. Hue Tap can sit on a table, mount on a wall, so the versatility is excellent. If I could change anything, I would add the ability to change color on the fly directly from Tap, but you have the ability to control light scenes, which work well.

This is a nice replacement for your normal light switch since it can be put anywhere. The only problem I have is that each button can only be programmed for one function. I was hoping that one button could be used to turn a light on and off, but you have to use one butting for on and another button for off.

Useful addition if you have Hue bulbs so that you don't have to fidget around in an App to turn on the lights or start a specific scene. Does not always work the first time you push a button, mostly functions 2-4, button one seems to work reasonably well, sometimes have to push a button a few times for the action to start, seems to be related to the switch generating it's own energy for transmitting the setting to the controller. You might try their new dimmer as a better alternative.

Like pretty much all Hue products, the Tap Remote Switch is pricey. But it offers the convenience of not grabbing for your phone every time you want to change your lighting settings. I didn't mount it to a surface using the included peel and stick feature, choosing instead to use it as a switch than can be moved to wherever in the room it's needed. I wish it was cheaper but it was worth it for me.

I use this in my home office / den to control the lighting scenes. The space is a 'flex' space that acts as a home office during working hours, and as a relaxation/video games/tv space in the evenings and weekends. The Hue system is perfect for me as it lets me cater my lighting to my use. The Tap lets me quickly change without unlocking my mobile phone. It's awesome it uses no batteries, which means I never have to worry about it dying on me. It does have one quirk, the 2-3-4 buttons must be pressed in a certain way. What I've learned is that the trick is to press the button closest to the center of the tap. For example, Button 2 is on the left side; putting my finger on the far right edge of Button 2 and pressing it reliably triggers the proper scene. Button 3 pressed from top of button 3, and Button 4 to the furthest left of the button. It's much smaller than you might think looking at pictures of it on the web, it is in fact a good size. Not too big to be obtrusive, not too small as to be hard to use. Other than that one quirk of learning how to press the buttons, it works perfectly.

I'm glad I picked this up because it is useful. The clicking of the buttons is a little clunky though. I mounted mine to the wall and if I don't press the 2,3, of 4 preset button perfectly, it registers as a click of the big 1 button. I seem to be getting the touch down because it's happening less frequently the longer I've had it. But I felt it was worth mentioning
