I don’t normally write reviews but the lifestyle that me and my wife have is great. Have all sorts of effects for DJ karaoke parties in the house with friends and family

Color and brightness
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Hue Philips hub recognized these as color and dimmable, Alexa did not. This is apparently due to a bug. In the Alexa app, if it isn’t recognizing brightness and color, hit search for new devices so it will recheck the devices connected. The color and brightness settings should now be there. Note: light spectrum is an additive color system. Meaning the more lights and brighter, the more you get to white. To show rich colors, turn the brightness down a bit and don’t out too much light in the same area.

Awesome Product as always from Hue
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Have over fifty different bulbs throughout the whole house and won’t stop until every light is a hue bulb. They’re expensive but so worth every penny. It makes any home feel so much different with being able to change the rooms feeling with different lighting.

Q: QuestionIs it necessary to buy a hub or can these be controlled by the app without one? What is the benefit of buying the hub?

- A:Answer You technically can control them to some capacity through Bluetooth. But, you really need the hub to get full use. If you're not looking for that, then I'd recommend the Sylvania bulbs. They're a fraction of the cost and you don't need a hub. They're controlled right from the app on the phone. Again not quite as much functionality as hue bulbs with a hub, but really pretty good. I have both brands and wish I'd have saved the money and gotten only Sylvania.

Q: QuestionHow is it that these bulbs consume 60 watts but are a 10watt incandescent equivalent. They must really get hot and be dimmer than the 800 lumens?

- A:Answer I believe the information is reversed in the specification details. Consumption should be 10Watts and incandescent equivalent 60Watts.

Q: QuestionWe have a hub already. I see another option of buying a starter pack that includes a bridge? Do you have to have that bridge, for these lights to work? Or can I just buy these lights b/c we already have a hub? It's a gift so I'm clueless with all this.

- A:Answer This question is hard to answer without a picture as it depends on your particular type of fixture. If it is a screw on type (same thickness as a table lamp bulb) then you might have a couple of options. You could use A19s if using normal lamp bulbs currently, but BR30s will probably fill the housing a little bit better. Be aware, that although BR30s are commonly used in recessed fixtures, Philips does not guarantee them for this use. I have had a few installed exactly like that for a few years without any issues. YMMV
