Either one looks great, they are smart, have them paired with my phone and my computer, you can choose different modes and brightness, Can do party, reading mode, active and much more. Really like them. Will buy more.

Lighting that's worth the price
||Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed.These are way more pricey than other lights but you get what you pay for. If you are to using a Google home to set up the voice commands, you need to make sure you set up a hue account on the Philips Hue website to link them up or they won't add. Once you have them set up though oh man will your friends and family jaw drop for how amazing they look. The alarms are amazing and if you have trouble waking up you can have them on full blast in the morning lol.

- A:Answer This kit contains the 4th generation bulbs that are Bluetooth compatible where as the other kit with 1140+ reviews contains the 3.1 generation bulbs. You can verify this by the Bluetooth listed on the box and the icon printed on the bulbs themselves. Bluetooth is nice if you want a bulb in a separate area outside of the hub where there is no Zigbee mesh network. You can also directly connect to google home devices as they have Bluetooth built in. However, Bluetooth is irrelevant with this kit if you plan on using the bridge but it’s nice to have since it’s the same cost. All other specs remain the same between 3.0-4 generation bulbs including color saturation and lumens.

Q: QuestionDo you have to hook up the dimmer to an electrical kit or where does that go? There is another kit that doesn’t have the dimmer, trying to figure out the difference.

- A:Answer No, the dimmer is essentially a standalone remote control that comes with a mounting plate that is magnetic. You can mount it on the wall or you could just set the remote control on a table. You can use the remote control to turn the lights on and off and control the dimming function. You can also use it to scroll through various light settings.

- A:Answer No, it does not. The bridge connects to an Ethernet port from your router. The bulbs communicate via the bridge on a protocol called Zigbee. The bulbs never connect to your WiFi network by themselves.

- A:Answer You need a hue hub, which is included in the starter kit. You can also purchase it all separately. I did not own a hue hub so I purchased a starter kit and then all the additional bulbs I wanted.
