THE BEST ELECTRIC SHAVER FOR CLOSE, CLEAN AND COMF
Posted .Pros mentioned:Battery, Cleanup, PriceI have been using Norelco rotary shavers for approximately 25 - 30 years. My first Norelco was a gift from my son who heard me complain about wearing out the foil screens of my prior favorite shaver models. The initial transition from foil head shaver to rotary shaver requires allowing your facial skin and beard to acclimate to the more aggressive, rotary cutting action. Norelco’s User Manuals advise new users of rotary shavers about the typical adjustment period. The best method is to use a light touch, the minimum amount of pressure and to keep the shaver in motion over the skin. After several days of acclimation, you receive excellent, comfortable shaves. Once you try a Norelco rotary shaver you become a lifelong Norelco user. The two fundamental reasons are 1) Norelco rotary shavers give the closest, cleanest, quickest and most comfortable shaves, and 2) Norelco rotary shavers are typically extremely durable and reliable, and have exceptional longevity. I have a heavy, tough beard, yet my Norelco shavers typically last around ten years each. The only reason that they ultimately require replacement, is that the rechargeable battery finally wears out and will fail to hold a charge. Averaging ten years (and more) of daily use, and even then, it is only the battery that wears out, is a testament to the quality and reliability of Norelco shavers. I find that the cutting blades, which are replaceable, have been of such excellent quality that they remain sharp and effective and comfortable for many years, even with my tough, heavy, wiry beard. The Norelco Model 2500 is my preferred style of Norelco shaver. It is a triple, floating head shaver with pop-up trimmer. The three floating heads, which are in a flexible mount, provide an exceptionally close and comfortable shave, every time. The pop-up trimmer is excellent for side burns, moustache and the rear of the neck, at the hairline. The shape and contour of the shaver, coupled with the partially textured case molding, provides for a good, comfortable grip. This new Norelco 2500 shaver is providing the same comfortable and clean shave that I have always received from my prior Norelco shavers. It cuts clean and fast, and I never receive a razor burn. Cleaning is easy with the pop-open top which facilitates access to remove the accumulated shaving clippings. No cleaning brush is included, although one has been included with every prior Norelco. Importantly, this shaver is water-resistant, although it is not submersible. Periodic thorough cleaning by rinsing the cutting heads and drive pinion area under running water restores a like-new cleanliness and efficiency. The Norelco 2500 rotary shaver is value priced, but it is an economy model. This model does not have a pivoting shaving unit. The cutting heads have only a single row of cutting blades, rather than multiple rows of blades as better models do. It is reasonable to presume that 72 blades will cut faster, more efficiently and more effectively than only 15 blades (and probably last longer, as well). The cleaning brush is omitted. The features and functionality are basic. Irrespective of the foregoing, the Norelco’s performance is very good, providing, close, clean and comfortable shaves. It includes the most important and desirable basic features comprised of three floating heads, pop-up trimmer and Li-Ion rechargeable battery. LED diodes at the switch indicate when the battery is depleted, when it is charging and when the charge is complete. Also included is a thin, draw-string pouch. Based on prior experience, I am hopeful that this model will be as durable, reliable and long-lasting as each of my prior Norelco shavers. Notably, this is the first Norelco shaver that I have ever owned which is not manufactured in the Netherlands. This model is manufactured in Indonesia. It is very reasonably priced. Based on my favorable experience thus far, I recommend the Norelco 2500 rotary shaver.

Gets the job done
Posted .I have used the Philips Norelco Shaver 2500 S1311/82 for a week now, and it is a nice shaver. The battery is supposed to last 45 minutes, on one charge. So far, it has not had to recharge. From the beginning, it sounded slow, but it cuts better than my last electric shaver, so the speed doesn't seem to matter. My prior electric shaver was straight and didn't form well to my face. This Philips 2500 bends and forms to my chin and neck well, and cuts quickly. It takes less time to shave now, than my other shaver. One thing I noticed was that it opens the top lid every time I try to take the cap off. It dumps shavings out, which is a pain. So I just decided to keep it in my drawer without the top cap on. Problem solved. Overall I like this shaver. I didn't get skin irritating when switching to the new blades. Right out of the box, I plugged it in, and let it charge until I needed to use it that needy morning. The box says it is a quick charge. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the design with the cap.

Best Shave so Far
Posted .Pros mentioned:Battery, Cleanup, Ease of useThis is the first traditional electric shaver I have used. I use to normally use just regular razor blades, and for the last couple of years, I have been using the Philips Oneblade. I have to say that after a couple of weeks of using this I much prefer it to the Oneblade, which I had been thoroughly happy with. The most important part is obviously how easy does it complete the shave, and I feel this is much easier than the Oneblade. It gets just as close, and I have to say much closer at the jawline than the other shaver/blades I have used. It takes me far less time to complete the shave, and again all the while feeling much closer. Now, the instructions say to give your face about 20 days of using this shaver exclusively to allow your skin/beard a chance to get used to the blades on the shaver. The first shave I had with this went great, and I had no irritation after. The second one was during a few days off of work, and I had about a week’s worth of growth, and that one was a bit rough. The shaves right after with just a couple of days of growth have gone much smoother. I think this works much better if you are shaving every couple of days as opposed to allowing a week to go by between shaves. Something that I really like is that this shaver is much quieter than Oneblade. I don’t mind shaving even while my wife is still sleeping. It’s quiet enough that I feel like it will not wake her. The last thing that I really enjoy about using this shaver is that your whiskers aren’t going to go all over the place, like with the Oneblade. When I use the Oneblade the cleanup is annoying, whiskers all over the sink, counter, and my hands and arms. This shaver captures 99% of those whiskers and allows you to open the shaver head to dispose of them after. Cleanup is so much easier and faster. I can wholeheartedly recommend using this shaver. Easy to use, close shave, little to no irritation, quiet, and quick cleanup. Water-resistant so a quick rinse helps to keep it clean, the charge lasts a long time so if I forget to charge it I don’t have to worry if it’s ready for the next shave. I would be ok with leaving the charger at home if I was going to be making a quick weekend trip.

Another great Philips razor - with beard trimmer!
Posted .Pros mentioned:Battery, Price, Shave qualityThe interesting thing about the Philips razors/shavers is that it seems no matter which one they come out with, they all work great. Never an issue, the provide plenty of features, with the end result and most important thing, a great shave! This one is cordless, can give you up to 40 minutes of run time, and has a very nice on/off switch with a light that shows you while charging, when fully charged, and when battery is low. If all is good, no light. They refer to the head shape as 4D conforming to all areas of your face, cool way to mention this. And it mentions 27 self sharpening blades too. These are great features for this price point. There is a pop up beard trimmer. There is also a pop up switch for the head assembly to pop us so you can rinse out the blades and also inside where the shavings collect. I'd like to say that I have never had a bad Philips razor/shaver. They always work, work well, and last well beyond the one year they recommend for blade replacement.

Great Electric Shaver
Posted .Pros mentioned:Shave qualityCons mentioned:BurnsPlease note, this is the 1st time I have ever used an electric shaver before. I was once purely a shaving gel and razor kinda guy. After using this, I have been using it paired with my razor. I'll explain why later. Packaging is pretty standard. It shows off exactly what you are getting. Shaver, charger, cover and a carrying bag. If it is the 1st time you are using it, remember to CHARGE IT FOR 3 HOURS before using it! (per the instructions). Then charging takes roughly an hour from empty to full after that. Using the shaver is a pleasant experience. No pinching, burning or cuts of any kind. It glides all over your face (in circular motions) with ease. Before I got this, I let my facial hair grow for about 3 weeks to test it. Took a few passes to finally get rid of all the hair, but for a "dry" shave, it felt good. No problems around the lips, nose, cheeks or chin area at all. But why 4 stars? Well the other feature is the trimmer. So while I tried to get a straight line for my sideburns, the trimmer had a heck of a time cutting the hair. Either side just couldn't come out clean. This is why I used a razor to touch it up.

Decent Electric Razor
Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, PriceI am a big fan of electric razors and have been using them for about 25 years. Not only do they provide a quicker/easier way to shave, but I appreciate the zero risk of cutting yourself and the edge trimmers provide a great way to keep sideburns and beards in nice order. I historically have used shavers with rectangular shaped foils and blades but gave this model with the circular blades a chance. After a few shaves it has performed well each time and is on par or better with other models I have used. I have not had to recharge it yet so it seems that it will go at least a week without needing charging. While I appreciate that this shaver came with a travel bag, the bag will only fit the shaver itself but not the charging cord. So if you are taking a weekend trip you should be fine, but if you are going on a long vacation, you will need to pack the charging cord separately. I do appreciate the provided cover to protect your foils when not in use. Overall, this shaver comes at a decent price and I encourage folks to consider it if they are looking for a good mid-level electric shaver.

A great razor that excels at its price point
Posted .Pros mentioned:Price, Shave qualityI have tried A LOT of electric razors over the years, and I am quite picky. I have a horrific combination of coarse hair and sensitive skin that is prone to ingrown hairs and 'pizza neck' from shaving with a blade or when it is exposed to the electric nibbling gerbils that some companies would have the audacity to call an electric razor. This razor has passed my test and is going to stay in my collection! Some pros that I love about it are that the whole razor, not just the blade head, is washable. Thus, shaving in the shower is a go for those who prefer. I would not fully submerse this, though. I also appreciate the pop-up trimmer. I maintain a tight beard around my jaw line, so having this trimmer built into it allows me to keep that edge going. I will say, I have pretty nappy hairs and this pop-up trimmer, although useful, does not quite have the horsepower that my Norelco 7000 does for buzz-sawing its way through my steel wool facial hair. The trimmer otherwise finds use in picking up the small hairs that the main blades miss. Your facial hair has a grain, just like wood, and sometimes hairs will grow against or opposite of the normal grain. The trimmer is great for spot trimming those hairs. The blades themselves are gentle, efficient, and achieve a closer shave than anything else I have. If I had to pick just one razor as a man who shaves his whole face, this would definitely be the one. This razor is definitely staying in my rotation for getting that close, date-night level shave on the neck without suffering through pizza-neck the next day (or even later the same day) like I always have with blades. Buy this with confidence.

Excellent Razor for Tough Beards!
Posted .Pros mentioned:Battery, CleanupI obtained this shaver for my son, who has thick hair and a tough beard. He can destroy a hand razor in a single use. However, the Philips Norelco Series 1000 has the ability to tackle his beard without any problems. Pros • Can be used in the shower. • Up to 45 minutes from a single charge or can use the cord (but not in the shower of course.) • The three 4D flex heads are very comfortable and are easy to clean afterward. • The pop-out trimmer is the best! It is precise and handles tough beards, sideburns, and mustache. • Can be fully charged in one hour. • Comes with a pull-string pouch for storage and travel. • Contoured and textured grip makes it easy to hold, even when wet. Cons • There's no indicator on the amount of charge left. (Not a big deal since it charges so quickly.) I highly recommend this Philips Norelco Shaver 2500.
