Easy to use, great lights!
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Purchased these for some outdoor lights that I have lighting up a patio area. Previously I had regular bulbs that would be way to bright for the area and were not able to dim. I have Hue lights in the rest of my house so I decided to buy the first outdoor pair and these are just as easy to use and quality as the rest of their products. Now when hosting on our patio I can have the lights dim to the setting to keep from shining in everyone's faces but still provide enough light to keep the space lit.

Hue does it again
||Posted .These are the connected flood bulbs to own. I have had ge link and sylvania. These are much better. They just work. The others loose connection and have to be relinked. They work with hue accessories too, such as switches and motion sensors. Home kit functionality as well. They should’ve made these years ago. The only thing that would make these better is a white/ color version. Use them daily with out failing. Grand slam Philip’s Hue!

Thought they'd produce more light
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.They were on sale and bought 3 with using my reward certificates. I already had BR30 in wall lantern but wanted more light. Even though these say the are 1000 lumens while the others were 800 lumens I didn't notice difference. But in all fairness it could be my wall lanterns limiting their brightness and distance. Kept them since I got them so cheap and gifted my mother the BR30 since she also has the Philips hue setup.

Great Addition to my Philips Hue Setup
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.I had some outdoor floodlights on the outside of my house facing my driveway that i wanted to automate. I started doing research to see if Philips had any hue flood lights that were rated for outdoor use and i was thrilled when i found these. They are on the expensive side but they work great and the build quality is great. I think they will last a long time. I live in Louisiana and we get lots of rain and humidity. I haven't had any issues with these bulbs so far. I love that i can now have my outdoor flood lights turn on and off automatically on a schedule so I can see at night and people think someone is home. These Bulbs are dimmable and they can get pretty bright. I highly recommend these if you want to expand your Philips Hue system outdoors.

- A:Answer The lights must have power going to them to be operational. If you want to control them from your phone app, then you would leave the wall switch in the "On" position all the time. However, you can use the wall switch to turn the lights on and off if you like. We do it both ways.

Q: QuestionWith these being Philips Hue lights, do you have to have a bridge for these to work? These would be the first two light bulbs that I have purchased and wanted to see if I need to buy a bridge, or if I am better off purchasing a starter kit first?

- A:Answer They DO NOT need a bridge to work. The bridge more allows you functionality. You'd likely want the bridge if you wanted to add the bulbs to an automation sequence (turn bulbs on when you pull in the driveway, turn on/off at a certain time) or to adjust the brightness. The starter kits are not necessarily cheap, but they do come with a bridge (make sure you buy the Hue Bridge 2.0). I think if you bought the starter kit and installed it, you would not look back.

- A:Answer These are a PAR-38. The 'PAR' part of the size refers to the size of the bulb; the size of the base (the part that screws into the light socket) is the same as a standard light socket.

- A:Answer These are outdoor bulbs, but I actually use them indoors in a lamp, since they are brighter than the standard A19 Hue bulbs. The 'PAR' part just refers to the size of the bulb itself. The bulb base (the part that screws into the light socket) is the same as a standard light bulb. Since these bulbs are LED, they do not produce the heat that you find with a regular incandescent bulb, so use in recessed lighting would be absolutely fine.
