Standard Sonicare with added style
Posted .Pros mentioned:Charging, Cleaning, DesignCons mentioned:Buttons, Instructions, PricePros Attractive design with metal accents 5 different brushing modes Brightly lit display makes it easy to see mode setting Stylish charging base and cup Cons Doesn’t include BrushSync feature like lower end models Doesn’t include pressure sensor feature like lower end models Single button for modes and on/off makes it hard to choose mode Half the metal accents are in places that are never seen Matching black brush heads aren’t available in most stores Back when Sonicare was first introduced it was very different than everything that was available and now it has become essentially a household name. Most people have heard of Sonicare even if they don’t use one. Every year toothbrush companies release new products in an effort to find that new innovative product. So the question is, does the Sonicare DiamonClean HX9351/57 do anything new and innovative in brushing? Well to start, they’ve made the models numbers more complicated. Previous generations used simple model numbers like 4100, 5100, and 6100 where each higher number had all the features of the lower but added a few extra. First off, the HX9351/57 doesn’t include all the features of what should be considered lowered end toothbrushes. Design It’s hard to make toothbrushes look nice but the DiamondClean is probably one of the most elegant ones you can find right now. It has a metal accent ring just below the brush and a metal base. When charging, you place it either in decorative plastic base that looks like glass or an actual glass. Either option in your bathroom makes the statement that even your toothbrush should look nice while sitting out. The charging base departs from previous designs that had a hole in the bottom of the brush that sat in a charging pin on the base. Instead the base of the toothbrush is slightly concave, hiding one metal accent, and the charging base where the brush sits is flat. The toothbrush only has a single button that serves two purposes. Operation This single button is where things become strange. It servers to turn the toothbrush on and off, no surprise there, and also allows you to change modes after turning on. This lends to a cleaner look but trades off functionality. The problem lies in the fact that in order to choose modes your toothbrush needs to be on. You have a choice to make at this point. You can cycle through the modes to find the one you wish while the brushing timer is running, and this shouldn’t be done with toothpaste on unless you want a mess. The other option is change modes with the toothbrush in your mouth within a few seconds of starting which is hard to see while in your mouth. This might seem like a minor hassle but if each quadrant of the pacer is 30 seconds and it takes you several seconds to go through the choices then seconds aren’t spend brushing during the time period it is intended. Again, it is a trivial flaw in that you can just brush for longer, but the point is why such a high-end toothbrush should have this quirk in the first place. Another strange quirk is that you have 5 brushing modes and nowhere does it say in the manual or in any instructional videos what, if anything, should be changed about how your brush with the different modes. An example is the gum care mode has two cycles to it. Is the second cycle a gum massage mode or are you just brushing your teeth more? Nowhere does it seem to say. There are also inconsistencies in the instructions. In the instructional videos by Sonicare it says you should only move the brush slowly across your teeth and let the brush do the work. In the manual it says you should move the brush in a slight back and forth motion. Both instructions are referring to the same DiamondClean toothbrush. Maybe it’s Phillips experimenting with what features the public wants most but two features are missing from the DiamondClean that models considered lower end have. Recently, Sonicare brushes starting offering a Brushsync feature to higher end models where the toothbrush could automatically and intelligently choose the brushing mode based on the inserted compatible toothbrush head. This DiamondClean toothbrush, while more expensive, doesn’t include this feature. Who knows, maybe Phillips felt customers didn’t like the feature and newer models are getting rid of it. But overall, it’s strange to see a higher end model missing features from cheaper product lines. Another, arguable more important, missing feature is a brushing pressure sensor. Several lower end models offer a pressure sensor that vibrates differently or lights up to let you know when you are brushing too hard. Strangely, this much higher end DiamondClean unit doesn’t offer such a critical feature. It’s hard to imagine Phillips discontinuing such a useful feature so omitting it from a high-end toothbrush seems odd. Performance Regardless of if you will use every mode this unit has available, it’s still a Sonicare. Sonicare toothbrushes have stood up to the test of time as a good toothbrush for thoroughly cleaning your teeth. Without independent tests it’s hard to say if the 5 different cleaning modes actually make a real difference in how well you clean your teeth over a basic Sonicare. The real question isn’t if it cleans your teeth good, which it does, but if you ok spending extra money for the extra brushing modes to see if they make a difference. Final thoughts If your primary concern is just function or you really need the pressure sensor then a different model of Sonicare would suit you better. It seems the focus of the DiamondClean HX9351/57 is more about making a more aesthetically pleasing toothbrush and less to do with adding useful features. It would be a stretch to call it a work of art, but it looks more elegant sitting on your bathroom counter than a plain Sonicare. If features and aesthetics are equally important, and price less important, look towards the Smart edition of this toothbrush as it has the same aesthetics with all the features. If aesthetics are important to you and the missing core features aren’t important for you then the Sonicare DiamondClean HX9351/57 could suit you well.

Svelt and super functional.
Posted .Pros mentioned:Charging, Cleaning, FeelingCons mentioned:Price, VibrationI've had my unit for a few weeks now. I have owned several rechargeable toothbrushes from competing brands (and even a really early Philips offering), but in the end I always reverted to standard toothbrushes. Why? Well, I experienced a few issues with build quality and practicality. Plastics would yellow or crack, bases/ brushes were difficult to clean (and keep clean), charging time increases, and on one device finding replacement heads became a nightmare. The Philips Soniccare Diamond Clean represents an attempt to give these devices another go. Summary: This is a svelt device with a really practical and clever charging base. Several different "modes" allowing for different sensitivities and goals. Super easy to clean and keep clean. Since it comes with its own carrier, it is also super portable. Pros: Great form factor. Fits nicely in hand. Comfortable grip and reasonably size brush head. The charging stand mates with a fitting to have brush sit upright, or it mates with a clean glass base cup that can be used for rinsing ones mouth, etc, as well as letting the device lean back while charging. Several different modes to tickle your gums or perform a nice scrub. No unnecessary grooves and indentations where grime can get caught or accumulate. Nothing complicated at all. Just rinse lightly and wipe clean. Competing products and generations didn't seem to last or perform as well. I felt like using another regular toothbrush after a few short days. With this guy, I could definitely feel a difference in my teeth on the first day. Though it is NOT a trip to the dentist, my teeth do feel clean and I feel rewarded for remembering to brush! I LOVE the timing capability. The unit will gently pause brushing (registers as a vibrations different from the normal scrubbing) to let you know 30 seconds is up and that it is time to switch positions in your mouth. Its a great way to make sure you get your minimum recommended 2 min of brushing in. Cons: I've only had this for a few weeks now and I really can't think of any cons, though I will say that I would have liked another brush head for the price point. Use: Use just like a regular toothbrush except with out having to do all of the brushing motions. Just glide the unit back and forth and allow its sonic head to do the work. You need to moisten and apply toothpaste and have the unit inserted into your mouth before turning on; otherwise you risk paste just vibrating right off! I definitely recommend this device. I also know what I will be gifting my partner this Christmas.

The Best Sonicare
Posted .Pros mentioned:Cleaning, HeadsCons mentioned:Buttons, CaseI’ve been using the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 for the past several months and I’ve been loving it. The DiamondClean steps up the power and features and I think it’s the best one to buy. There’s the DiamonClean Smart above that, but I’m not convinced that anyone needs an app for their toothbrush. The box includes the brush handle, a single brush head, a charging base, and a travel case. The charging base can be paired with either a cup or a stand. I really like the cup because you don’t have to position the toothbrush on the charger and can just set it in there like you would a regular toothbrush. The travel case is nice, but there are other versions of the DiamonClean that include a USB charging case and this one unfortunately does not. There are 5 brush modes on this model - Clean, White, Sensitive, Gum Care, and Deep Clean. They differ only in intensity of the brush and timing. The default mode is Clean, but I use the White mode because it adds an extra 30 seconds for going over my front teeth again. There’s just the one button on the front of the toothbrush that’s used to turn it off and on and toggle between modes. I’ve said it before, and you’ve probably heard it from everyone you know who has this type of toothbrush, but it really does feel like you’ve just come back from the dentist when you use it. The difference between this and using a manual toothbrush is night and day. The vibrating brush head does a great a job of cleaning my teeth and besides just holding it up to your teeth the effort involved is pretty minimal. I don’t really have anything bad to say about the Sonicare DiamondClean. It is a tough sell at $200, but it’s a great toothbrush if you want the best and a worthy investment for your teeth.

Very nice and elegant looking toothbrush
Posted .Pros mentioned:Charging, Cleaning, DesignThe features of this brush are very good, and well-thoughtout. Its ability to guide you through brushing each section of your mouth with the subtle beeps is very helpful. It does a great job of cleaning without shaking your whole head, and is very comfortable to use. The charging of the brush is also unique. It charges wirelessly, and can be charged by setting it inside the rinsing glass (that rests on the charging pad). This not only looks nice, but is very convenient. The brush itself is visually appealing with its soft black finish and hidden light-up mode selection that is only seen when in use. It also will let you know when you need to change the brush head. If you're in the market for a new brush, this one is a great choice. Pros: looks great, works great, wireless charging Cons: not much really!

I'm loving this
Posted .Pros mentioned:Cleaning, Feeling, HeadsI have to admit that I originally thought all toothbrushes are the same and never gave any thought to using a premium electric toothbrush until now. I saw this Sonicare and said I needed to get it. I am glad that I did. I normally use the electric disposable brushes and they work well but never seem to the job as good as I would like. I must admit that this particular toothbrush has impressed me and I was somewhat skeptical at first about the performance. I saw how small the bristles were and did not think that it would not be as efficient as cleaning as the models with larger bristles. I was completely wrong and I am happy to say that there are multiple settings depending on what you choose to focus on for example there is a gum care mode, sensitive, whitening, and deep clean. Each setting serves its purpose and you can feel the vibrating intensity change. It takes about less than a minute to clean my mouth and thats great. The brush head is detachable and replaceable. It is good to have a base that is not disposable. The brush has a wireless charger much like cellular phones have. Simply place it on the base and that is it. My brush came partially charged out of the box. The manual states it should be charged for 24 hours but I did not need to. I charged it for 2 hours and it was fully charged. The Sonicare comes with a traveling case, the wireless charger & base and a glass. I think all this is worth the asking price. Some people may be put off by the price because most folk spend less than ten dollars on toothbrush. I say give this a shot and you will not regret it. In closing this is a wonderful electric toothbrush that does a phenomenal job of cleaning your mouth and overall dental care regimen. I hardly give anything a perfect review but this is deserving of it.

Best Buy Actually Sent Me A Used Toothbrush!!!
Posted .I was very excited to receive my package from best buy. I ordered this product and another product. Much to my dismay, they sent me a used electric toothbrush that was opened with Box cutters or something (the lines of the cut indicate something sharp was used and that it was not torn open). It was delivered probably 30 minutes ago. I looked at the device, and the glass looked as though it had been previously cleaned. It seems they sent me a used/refurbished toothbrush. I don't believe selling used hygiene products is legal in this country. I am debating on taking legal action. This has got to be some sort of health violation. I have to admit, that this is, hands down, the most repulsive experience I have ever had in ordering products from online. Do they even have health inspectors? This is insanity. In regards to the toothbrush, I can't inform you if it works well or not as I refuse to use it. A used toothbrush puts me at risk for a multitude of bacteria and disease. I am honestly in shock that best buy would put my health at risk like this. Based on the shipment tracking, it apparently left a facility in Maumee, Ohio. So, I guess I have best buy and the facility there to thank for this insanely disgusting package that was sent to me. I ordered a gaming mouse as well, but considering the potential bacteria, I guess I have to return that as well. I am beyond disappointed, and moreover disgusted by the lack of professionalism, and the lack of safety precautions, as well as the lack of concern for customer care and safety. This is repulsive, and I only have Best Buy to blame.

Sonicare Toothbrushes are the Best
Posted .Pros mentioned:Cleaning, DesignI've been a Philips Sonicare user for several years now. My dentist recommended their toothbrushes to me and beyond any hype, they simply clean your teeth better. My dental hygienist is always very pleased with how my gums are healthier and teeth so much cleaner than if I used a conventional toothbrush. Over the years, I've been through a few Sonicare systems, so I was anxious to have the opportunity to use the DiamondClean System. Having just retired a Sonicare, I can tell you the DiamondClean system is terrific. It looks a little different and offers more cleaning options, from: Clean Mode White Mode Sensitive Mode Gum Care Mode Deep Clean Mode For most people, Clean mode is all you'll need, which provides 2 full minutes of plaque removal, in 30 second intervals (they call this Quadpacer, so you divide your teeth into 4 sections, which you clean for 30 seconds each. Once you get used to the Quadpacer, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Included with this Toothbrush is a travel case. Note some units come with a travel case you can use a USB cord with to charge the unit while away from home, but this particular unit doesn't include that. If you travel a lot, you might want to buy the next model up which does include the charger for the travel case. Otherwise, once fully charged (it takes about 24 hours to fully charge the base), you can get several days use without needing to recharge. Also included is the charging base with two ways to charge the handle. One looks like a shot glass the handle just rests in (see attached picture), while the other option is a plexiglass base that lets the handle charge in a totally upright vertical position. I tried both options and have actually decided I prefer the vertical charge position. Toothbrushes may not be exciting things, but if you care about having healthier gums and cleaner teeth, you owe it to yourself to invest in a Philips Sonicare system. Your dentist will thank you and if it makes getting cavities a thing of the past, your wallet will thank you too! This got 4 stars as opposed to five for one reason only. For the price of this unit, it should have come with the travel case you can charge. Otherwise, this is a 5 star product in every other sense.

Philips Has Done It Again!
Posted .Pros mentioned:Charging, DesignPhilips has been a high level electric toothbrush for years now and this new DiamondClean does not disappoint! PROS: - The look is very elegant. I like the black coloring and every accessory with it looks high end inlcluding the leather clad carrying case. - The charging set up is very nice. It wirelessly charges through the charging pad that you can either have set up just for the brush or charge it through the cup that comes with it. - The toothbrush itself works very well! You can cycle through the different methods quickly and it really provides that deep clean in every way you would want with a toothbrush. CONS: - Nothing I can think of! It really works great. BOTTOM LINE: This is an excellent buy if you want to have a long lasting electronic toothbrush that helps you get that white smile you want.
