Cheaply madePosted .
I like the headset, great sound quality, and I have had very few issues with it, occasionally there is a brief bit of static when changing the volume or bending the cord around the volume control (not normal bending while wearing, but when grabbing it or something). The big problem is the left side, along where the top of the mic is when it is in the body of the headset cracks and after a while completely breaks. I am not rough with it, I was actually extra careful with the second one after seeing what happened to the first, but just the slight bending when you put it on/off your head leads to it cracking (the whole side will finally come off leaving only the wire between the two sides) I have had 2 of these, the first one was replaced by Plantronics under warranty (I had to pay shipping) because it cracked as well. My second one just broke on the left, but I was able to fix it with some electrical tape and a zip tie. Overall, great headset if you plan on replacing it every year.Sorry, there was a problem. Broke after 1 year
Broke after 1 yearPosted .
I LOVED this headset until I put it on this morning and it snapped in half. I could not believe the thing broke as it had felt very durable. I started shopping for a replacement online then noticed other reviewers had theirs break too. Disappointed. I spent a good amount of money on these as I was looking for a quality headset. Yes it was tight (probably why it broke over time) but the sound quality was excellent and the fabric lining on the ear muffs were very comfortable. Now I got to go look for a replacement.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Amazing sound, really poor durability
Amazing sound, really poor durabilityPosted .
I never had an over-the-ear headphone that had noise-cancelling. I purchased these and was amazed at the sound quality. I used them primarily for listening to music and/or talking to friends. I didn't use them every day and took very good care of them. After nearly a year, a crack started to form right where everyone else says it does, I thought it might have been a little surface crack to begin with, then one day I dropped them on the carpet (with padding underneath) and they split into two! I tried to repair them with Super Glue and even a hot glue gun. It just doesn't work because of the stress point. I expected more durability from a pair of headphones that cost a hundred dollars (at that time). My friend had a pair of these same headphones, and she said they split in the exact same spot too. So. Plantronics must know it's a design flaw and they just don't care. I won't be getting another pair and it's a shame because they sounded great.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Thought a good purchase, not so much anymore!

When I first purchased these headphones they worked out great. I have had them for just over a year and they randomly snapped. The plastic just broke. I was very careful with this pair since I did spend $100.00 on them. When I contacted Plantronics they told me it would be $48.00 plus shipping to get a REFURBISHED pair. That's half the price of a new pair. After the customer service and how easily these broke, I would not buy another pair from Platronics.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Decent headset, but overpriced
Decent headset, but overpricedPosted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I've had this headset for a year now and have come to like and dislike a few things about it. I do like the microphone and for two reasons. One it tucks nicely out of the way when you don't need it and two everyone that I talk to on it says it sounds great. Hardly any background or ambient noise comes through. As for the speakers, the sound comes through decent for games and movies, but it lacks volume and definition when listening to music. My brother has the lower priced 377 and to tell you the truth, I can't tell the difference in sound quality between the 777 and 377. The only differences are $50 more for the 777, it has the Dolby device with USB, and the color is slightly different. The 377 has red accents which actually look better to me. As for comfort, I don't have too much of an issue with that. It has plenty of room around my ears and the padding is adequate. I only notice discomfort if I wear them for over a couple hours, but in my experience any headset eventually gets irritating. It might have to do with break in or the size of your head, mine's about average. Overall, it's a decent headset for gaming or maybe watching some movie's. The Dolby feature wasn't worth $50, even though the USB plug was nice. I wish I would've gotten the cheaper version, but then again I didn't review it first like you are doing.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

This headset may be more suited for a female gamer
This headset may be more suited for a female gamerPosted .I would recommend this to a friend
I start this review off by saying I am a female gamer (Yes, we do exist!) and Female's heads are not as large as males (Sorry guys!) While it appears to be a huge headset, it is not very heavy and I do not feel the pressure that other reviewers are speaking of (Sorry Guys!). The longest I have worn the headset has been 4 hours taking it off for brief breaks between the action. Due to the headband size, This headset may be more suited for a female or teenage gamer as opposed to an adult male. This headset works very well with Windows 7 64 bit (If you are buying this headset and are still on Vista, your money is much better spent on Windows 7!) there are no problems and it was simply plug and play for me. The sound quality is fantastic, and the folks on Ventrilo say that my voice is very clear and clean. The huge bonus is this is a 7.1 dolby digital surround sound headset that doesn't cost $129 or more. If you are comparing the price of a 7.1 set to the price of a 5.1 set, you are short two speakers. There are fantastic 5.1 headsets available in the $50 - $60 range, but will not give you the Bam surround this will for your gaming and movies. So to wrap it up Dolby 7.1 Surround sound for under $130 Fold away mic prevents accidental breakage Seems more designed for a Female, or a younger male gamer Armed with this knowledge buy your next headset wisely!Sorry, there was a problem. Mediocre Headset for High-End Pricing
Mediocre Headset for High-End PricingPosted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I'm a gamer and play online games for hours on end so I need a headset that is comfortable and gives great quality sound and records good sound so my team can hear me clearly. I recently had to use my product replacement plan on my old Razer Barracuda 5.1 headsets because the microphone was cutting in and out, sad times indeed as Razer has discontinued this particular product. I was looking for a headset to replace that would give 5.1 surround sound and I thought I had found it here with the Gamecon 777. The microphone is outstanding, great quality, not too low, not too loud. The sound quality however was terrible for a headset that costs $100. The sound was a bit tinny and felt a little distorted at times. These are 2 channel headsets with an attachment that is supposed to mimic 5.1 surround sound, but Vista 64-bit users beware, it is not recognized and Plantronics does not seem to care about developing any 64-bit drivers for this product, so I was never able to test it out fully. The headset, while comfy, did feel like it was pressing right below my ears, and I wouldn't recommend wearing them for long fragging sessions. I consider myself computer savvy so I was upset to find I could not get the sound quality from these headsets, even in a 2 channel settings, to match what a $100 headset should be putting out. Sad times indeed.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Not very durable

Well i have bought a couple of these head sets, the first one part of the jack plug came out in my computer when i unpluged it, This is something i had never seen happen before , i was never able to get it out either. The second headset i bought split in half at the left extention where it meets with the top part that sits on your head, then the mic broke as well, I am not a person that is rough with my things i and typically take good care of my things both headsets broke within 6 monts for the money you spend on them you might be better off getting some cheap logitec that dont normally break like this one. The sound is great and the mic is very sensative. Makes your ears a little hot sometimes but i could live with that .Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
