Playbulb - 33' App Enabled Multi-Colored Light String

I purchased 6 sets of Playbulb 33' Multi-Colored Light Strings. At the time of purchase I thought these could be connected to make a longer length but that is not the case. One end is a regular USB connector used to connect to a power source and the other end is a micro USB connection used to extend the light string. I thought these units came with an extender to connect the light strings so I would only have to use one power source but that is not the case. I tried using a USB to Micro USB connector to extend the strand but it did not work! So you have to buy the 16.5' extender to increase the length of the strand. This is costly as the extenders are just a few dollars less than the 33' strings and half the length. You can group strings together in the app and setup the same color settings but you will need to power all the individual strands. I did this for our tree. I had 3 strings on the tree and grouped them so I could setup the same color settings. This didn't work. There is no color consistency between the strands so they were all different colors (not what I wanted) and they would not all connect and work in the group. Every time I set them up one strand would not match up to the settings even though it was listed in the group. I tried this 10 times and finally just kept the strings as independent light strings and adjusted the color for each separately so they would mach up. The description also lists the App has a timer! I wanted to set a turn on and off time for the lights. The App has a Wake and Sleep setting but this is only good for 30 minutes. So it will come on or turn off in the 0 to 30 minute. Not useful for want I wanted. I am using the App with an Android Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Tablet and S7 Edge. The App is not the best and light strings continually disconnect. Also the Bestbuy description states: What's Included: Cloth bag Playbulb 33' App Enabled Multi-Colored Light String USB adapter a Cloth Bag comes with the lights. There is NO CLOTH Bag!! For the cost of these units and weakness of the app I would not recommend them. I am resistant to use the USB power adapter outside. For so much less you can purchase regular light strings in the color options you want. The positives are these units are very bright, you can make the colors vary if the app works correctly, you can adjust to colors not available in standard light strands.

The light string itself works very well. When I saw it 1/2 off for $25 I took a chance and bought one. I use it now as an accent light strip on top of the entertainment center and behind the TV and slowly rotate the colors. Works well as a substitute for a $89 hue light strip. I might use it outside at Xmas. The problem is it does not work with Alexa and has to be app controlled. The wake and sleep timers will not hold the settings on the Playbulb x app. Every couple of days they go back to un-enabled and lose the timer settings.

This is a really fun light string. You can adjust the colors and flash them. I wish there was a twinkle feature. There is a candle option but I don't think it is as good.

Very colorful lights. Easy to setup and use. Haven't had the chance to test them outside yet.

I bought 3 sets because I thought they strung together but it turns out you need a special connector kit to connect them. I also thought there would be more options regarding effects. The effects they come with are very limited.

So I got the lights during a BestBuy deal of the day and they were 50% off. The lights are pretty cool but we wanted to line our back yard, deck, and tree house. I bought 10 packs. What the label doesn't say is that the strands do not connect to each other. One end is a USB and the other is a micro USB. I bought some after market connectors and you can only light 3 strands together. Apparently there is a second strand type made for connecting but the literature says you can only connect one original and one secondary together. That's disappointing. Not worth the $$$$ even at 50% off. Will be returning
