I've been running Mac OS 10.14.6 on a MacBook Air using this PNY 512GB SD card as the Startup Drive with absolutely no problems. If you are interested, do this: 1. Use Disk Utility to format the 512GB SD card as APFS. 2. Duplicate the Mac O/S onto the 512GB SD card using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! or comparable software. 3. Once completed, open System Preferences and set the 512GB SD card as the Startup Drive. 4. Restart the computer. My 2017 MacBook Air was limited to 128 GB, but this allowed me to effectively expand my storage and use additional software. The performace is as good as the internal SSD of the MacBook Air.

Great expansion size without having to lug around a USB external drive. Transfer speed is great. I use it for my work files and Time Machine. It also streams media well. Price and quality from this brand are great.

used it as a spare hard drive for my wife's laptop for her to install games on so she doesn't take up space on her main C drive. can read all the drive as one large hard drive so it did exactly as i needed.
