Good sounding sounding set up!
Posted .The Polk Magnify 2 is a great addition to your TV. I am impressed with this soundbar and wireless subwoofer system. I have a less expensive soundbar with a small built-in subwoofer that sounded pretty good but lacked a true low end. The Magnify 2 will give you a full sound stage that is crisp and clear with good separation. What it will not do is completely blow you away like a full 5 or 7.1 surround with a dedicated amp/receiver like some of my other systems have. I have several 5.1, 7.1 systems and a couple of soundbars. I am an audiophile type of person and I am impressed with the clarity of this Polk system. First, the unboxing and setup was fairly simple following the instructions that it came with. I mounted ours to my homemade bracket under my TV that is wall mounted with a fully articulating TV wall mount system in our bedroom. This is the only way to go folks. It lets you point the TV and soundbar in any direction you want at the same time. We watch TV in bed and sometimes on a couch that is on the other side of our bedroom. With this system since bass is omnidirectional, it works perfectly. I was able to easily set up our satellite receiver, TV and soundbar on our Universal remote without any issues. Besides drilling new holes in the mount everything was fairly easy. Once all set up we began watching some TV and were immediately impressed by the new sound we had in our bedroom. My wife said it sounds like a theatre in here. I also connected to the soundbar with the Google Home app and it immediately asked if I wanted to sync with my SiriusXM service which I did. Additionally, I chose YouTube music as the default music streaming service since we have the YouTube premium service. With that, you can connect to the Google Home app and can jump into the YouTube Music app from there. You can also cast from other apps like SiriusXM by touching the cast button from within those apps. What I did find somewhat disappointing though is that there is not a full-blown Google assistant built into the speaker like I thought there was. You need to have a separate Google Home speaker to enable a fully functional google assistant and a regular Chromecast is still needed to cast pictures and videos. The built-in Chromecast is just for casting music. Which to me is still a great feature but you can just use Bluetooth to do that as well which works with any app or source from your phone while the Chromecast feature is limited to certain apps. The only issue we have had with it so far is it seems to automatically turn off after a set amount of time. I will need to look into that and see if it is something I can disable so it does not go out of sync with our universal remote and the other hardware in our system. We do not want to have to be using the soundbar remote to turn it back on all the time when are just taking a break from watching TV and have it paused between shows. Another thing I would like to see is an app that goes with the system to give me more control over the sound settings to fine-tune it more with an EQ. I also have read an article that stated there is supposed to be some wireless Polk SR2 speakers coming out for this system in January of 2021. Overall, we are very happy with our new sound system it is a big improvement over our stand-alone soundbar that did not have a separate subwoofer. This system will give you a great soundstage and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple solution to creating a full range of theatre-like experience without having to run wires. Since the subwoofer is wireless and the Polk SR2 surround speakers that are supposed to be coming out soon are also wireless it is very easy to get set up!

Sound upgrade to your TV
Posted .>> Summary Even though our main Vizio 65” TV built-in Speakers work fine for news and some TV shows, we really missed the experience that comes with a good Sound System, especially when watching movies and Netflix programs. We have an old 5.1 sound speaker system connected to our other older TV, and you can tell the difference in sound quality. So, I decided to go for the Polk MagniFi 2 as the sound speaker system for my main TV. Experience overall has been great, wife and kid are very happy now, the device can fill a big room with deep and clear sound and we have a blast watching movies and our favorite shows as well as listening to music on YouTube or from the phone through Bluetooth connectivity. Bass is superb, it beats hands down my old 5.1 which also has a subwoofer. Surround capabilities are great, but of course the lack of back speakers makes it feel not as “surround” as the 5.1 system we have, yet it is still very enjoyable. For a soundbar, I was pleased that it could deliver such sound. - Pros: amazing bass, surround feeling, voice enhancement (for most purposes), easy connectivity, easy to move around (if needed). - Cons: few equalization options (only some preset modes). >> Box Contents Weird looking package, box shaped like a small arcade machine. Fortunately, the contents inside were well protected and all came fine. Subwoofer is kind of heavy, but solid construction (heaviness justified on how deep the sound was). The soundbar feels of very good quality and well-constructed. I am happy with the Polk craftsmanship. Nice to have HDMI and Optical cables in the box, they allow for easy connecting the TV (TV-ARC or TV-eARC modes). >> Setup After unpacking, I recommend doing a quick (or slow) read of the Quick Start Guide that comes in the package, it will make you aware of what this device is capable of and help you decide your best configuration. The initial test I did, involved just powering, first the soundbar and next the subwoofer, next having the subwoofer connect to the soundbar, and then connecting the soundbar to a music source using Bluetooth (music source being a phone). What a powerful sound system this ended up being! We listened to a several songs enjoying the sound quality and, thanks to the bass, really “feeling” the music. After the initial test and as expected, since the Polk MagniFi 2 was destined for my main TV, I used the HDMI TV-ARC mode to connect the TV to my Polk MagniFi 2 (it can also do eARC mode, read the Quick Start Guide on how to do it). Sound coming out of the soundbar was quite an improvement to our experience. >> Connectivity It has plenty of connectivity options for a soundbar: 3 HDMIs, 1 HDMI ARC and 1 optical, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Easy to move from one connection to another, and have multiple devices connect directly to the soundbar as opposed to connect to the TV and then to the soundbar. >> Voice enhancement Extremely useful feature when watching HD/4K content on Netflix and cable TV. I watched one Metallica concert on Netflix and if I wanted James’ (front man) voice to be more audible, this feature would make it, so I wouldn’t miss hearing, loud and clear, some of the most famous lyrics. In addition, voice narration in documentaries can be truly aided with this feature as it can make the description easier to understand, and if you don’t want to hear some annoying voice, you can even lower the voice as well and concentrate on the music. I am not sure how the technology works or how it does its job, but don’t expect YouTube music videos to be enhanced with this feature, something similar happened to a few songs we played while connected through Bluetooth. >> Bass What a blast to listen to it with its very powerful subwoofer. The first time we tried we did it with music coming through Bluetooth, we felt like being in a concert. We put the bass to the max to the point that all of us got sick of so much sound hammering our bodies were taking. We needed to rest for a bit before going back to more “normal” bass level. >> Portability Although it is intended to be used for our main TV, we see no reason to move the Polk MagniFi 2 soundbar to another room if we want to experience some music, for example. Next party (after the pandemic), we are planning on moving temporarily the soundbar and the subwoofer to the next room and have a blast of a party with some music videos projecting on the wall! >> Other thoughts The only thing it would have been great to have is more equalization options or control. It is expected that those options to be available more on the source side, e.g. a receiver. A couple of times in the past few days, and even with the Voice enhancing option, while watching some programs, the voice level would be lower than the surrounding sound making it a little hard to follow the dialogs. This is not an excuse to give this soundbar a 4/5, so I am keeping the 5/5 rating.

Great sound bar with small footprint!
Posted .I am comparing my experience with 4 different brands of sound bars that I currently own. The ones that I own are in price range between $400- $800. Polk MagniFi2 has lot more features compared to the one's that I have, which were released in 2018 - 2020. MagniFi2 one has a small footprint and delivers the same sound experience as the bigger ones that I own. I am not new to Polk as I do own their floor standing speakers in my home theatre room and can attest to their quality. If you are looking for a high performance branded sound bar with a low price tag, Polk MagniFi2 is the right choice. This soundbar delivers 200W power (peak power) and gives you the home theatre experience for small to mid-size rooms without compromising on the quality of sound. The wireless subwoofer performance is on par with the ones in the market that are in the same price range. I rate it 5/5 in terms of value to price given the features it offers and the number of inputs on this sound bar Physical appearance and installation (5/5): Small foot print, low profile, wall mountable with just one HDMI cable plugged into the TV and set-up was a breeze, just took me 5 mins to link-up all my devices and configure the inbuilt Chromecast. The soundbar has a low profile and doesn't obstruct the view if you decide to place it in front of your TV. It detected the wireless sub-woofer automatically at power up and I didn't have to worry about linking them manually. I didn't have any issues configuring the inbuilt Chromecast on my google app and I was able to stream music from youtube, pandora, and amazon music right away. Inputs (6/5): Not many soundbars offers that many inputs as offered by this sound bar. It has 3 HDMI inputs (4k compatible) with an additional TV (ARC) input along with TV optical input and a bluetooth option. I always struggled to have all my devices (Gaming, media, Blu-ray players, etc.) connected to my TV/AV receiver and Polk solved this problem with 3 HDMI inputs. I now have those devices routed through the Polk sound bar in my living room. The remote is pretty handy and has lot more options -you can adjust bass, voice, mode (movie/music/sport/night), switch HDMI inputs, etc. These functions are typically available on AV receivers buts it's good to see these functions on a sound bar, for those who want the same experience as a home theatre but want to avoid the bulky receivers and speakers. I also have the remote programmed to control my TV power as well. Audio (5/5): Polk boosts about its patented SDA (Stereo Dimensional Array), which is somewhat similar to the 5.1 surround system. I played the Dark Knight and Avatar 3D movie and did notice the 3D surround sound effect . I found their Voice Adjust function pretty interesting, it's like dialogue enhancer - lowers the background music volume and similar the night mode function on my AV receiver. The subwoofer packs a punch and I was amazed on its bass output given its small footprint. I did notice the voice was a little muffled when I turned on the volume and bass to max levels, but again this not an ideal setting for the living room. Overall (5/5) the soundbar offers high quality audio for a small price tag. I am impressed by the amount of bass this little sound bar delivers and definitely would recommend this soundbar for people looking for a budget soundbar without compromising on sound quality.

Solid but flawed soundbar system
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Polk MagniFi 2 is a feature-rich soundbar and subwoofer combo that delivers solid audio, but doesn't quite hit there with the "wow" factor. In particular there seems to be a chunk of sound spectrum in the bass that underwhelms, while at other times the sub struck me as a bit harsh. The soundbar itself, however, gives wonderfully clear audio, particularly dialogue, and measuring just 2" tall, it easily fits in front of just about any TV without obstruction. Setup is pretty easy with the included instructions--I ran into one hiccup with the Google Home setup which I was able to resolve by having another go at it. Home gives you some limited control and Google integration, but there is not a standalone app for granular configurations. Google setup also allows for the soundbar to be used as a GoogleCast audio device, and using Spotify with the soundbar was as easy as any other Googlecast device. Just select it as your output device and the audio starts right afterward. If you have multiple speakers in your Google Home, you can output to multiple rooms as well. The soundbar is generous with connectivity, with 3 HDMI ports (one with ARC, but not eARC), optical, and Bluetooth. Included in the packaging was an HDMI cable and an optical cable, which are both appreciated. Across the top are the power, input, and volume controls, and a multicolored set of different status lights emerge across the front to indicate levels, or even what type of audio you're listening to (e.g., green for Dolby Digital). The remote feels solidly built, and when connected via HDMI, CEC allows for control between soundbar and TV. However, the remote isn't backlit, and the keys require an inordinate amount of pressure to activate. The remote includes adjustments for dialogue boost and bass levels, along with 4 presets: movie, sports, music, and 3D. The latter is a separate setting that attempts to give a sense of height in the audio, but my house has such odd ceilings I've never had a convincing height effect in any speaker setup. Those with more normal flat ceilings may have better luck. Movie is what I defaulted to for most content, as it serves TV and movies well. There is also a compressed dynamic range Night mode, good for late nights or apartment complexes. Across a variety of films: Star Wars Rogue One, Quantum of Solace, Into the Storm, and War of the Worlds, the Polk shows itself solid but lacking a bit of oomph. As said before, I was very impressed with the easy clarity of the dialogue in all titles. The bass could definitely provide a bit of thunder here and there, but it just seems like it can't quite fill the whole gap in the sonic spectrum up to the range where the soundbar's speakers are. So you get this feeling like there's just a bit missing from time to time. Overall, this is a good choice for movies, but not if you want room shaking bass. Needless to say, it makes for a vastly improved experience over any TV speakers though. Music was a bit more of a mixed bag as I think it draws out the sub's flaws a bit more. I think the sub can do some booming explosions decently, but not much music goes that low, so that lack of punch is felt more acutely in music than in movies. Overall, it's a good soundbar for upgrading your TV speakers, particularly for movies and TV shows. Like most soundbars, it won't make you forget a dedicated and properly configured 5.1 or 7.1 system, but it can definitely get you closer to a theatrical experience. The feature set here is rich with connection options, the speakers seem solid and well-made, and you do get pretty good sound with solid if unspectacular bass. The Google integration is a nice bonus if you are inclined to use those services (and the soundbar works fine without it). I think most people would be pleased with it.

Immersive and Flexible but lacking strong Bass
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI’ve owned several Polk speakers over the years so my expectations were high when I got the MagniFi2 soundbar. I have always felt that Polk is very good at producing speakers that provide very clear mids and highs and this soundbar did not disappoint in that regard. The bass while ok was not as impressive for a couple of reasons as discussed below. The preconfigured equalizer settings for music, movie, night, sport and 3D give you some interesting options and using the voice and bass control adds to the flexibility. Overall this is a good soundbar for the money. Pros: - Supported all my 4k content whether I was streaming or using my DVD player. - Three HDMI ports and ARC support - Good clear frequency response especially across the mids and highs for music. - The Voice Adjust is really nice for shows and sports when you need to increase the vocal ranges. - The LEDs on the front of the soundbar are intuitive once you understand their function. - The sound stage is quite large and Polk does a good job producing virtual surround sound. - The 3D audio mode adds some dimension to the soundstage. This feature can be amazing on one video and flat out bad on the next. With this turned on it seems like the bass is lessened which can also be a negative. - Simple set up for the Wi-Fi connection via Google Home as well as Bluetooth. Both worked with no issues. - The Subwoofer automatically paired with the soundbar and the connection stayed solid without any drop outs. Concerns: - The only complaint I have with the audio quality is with the bass. At times it seemed like the bass was lacking punch or muffled. - The subwoofer has very short legs so if you have carpet the carpeting can “deaden” the subwoofer response. My subwoofer sank deep enough that there was barely a fingers width between the subwoofer frame and carpet. - If you are wall mounting the soundbar you have to make certain there is enough room between the bottom of the TV and the top of the soundbar for you to reach the manual buttons. - The remote control is well laid out but the buttons can be difficult to find in low light and they require a fair amount of push to actuate the button. - The 3D affect can really enhance some movies but in others it becomes a detriment. The audio soundstage is expanded but it also increases some of the background sounds which can be overwhelming. It also can introduce some reverberation and echo which can be distracting. - No eARC support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats. I found that some of my DVDs (Top Gun for example) didn’t play the audio because the soundbar does not support Dolby Digital True HD. By making changes to the DVD player settings or the movie’s audio settings I was able to get all them to play audio eventually. - No Dolby Atmos or DTS:X support but it does have Polk’s 3D variant. Setup: My TV supports ARC so I connected the HDMI cable to my TV’s ARC HDMI port and it was up and working. When I went to wall mount the soundbar I realized that getting to the buttons could be problematic so I made sure it was a couple of inches below the TV. The subwoofer paired with the soundbar on power-up and was operational without me having to do anything. I next added the soundbar to my Google Home account and put the soundbar on my wi-fi network so I could cast to it. All this was simple and straight forward without any type of issue.

Awesome Soundbar with lots of Headroom
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I had the Polk magnifi Sr sold that and upgraded to the magnifi 2. . All I can say is the 3D feature they added to the Soundbar plus the added 200 watt with the new more powerful sub sounds incredible. Sound effects for adding height virtually in my opinion is much better than Sony's offerings that I've tried. When Polk comes out with the surround speakers for this system this is going to be hard to beat for the price. I'm not going to miss Dolby Atmos I've had three sound bars with that feature and I'm not impressed. The virtual height surround feature on this Soundbar blows it away. . Powerful and very loud. highly recommended.

Nice compact Soundbar
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a nice soundbar that takes up little room, is wall mountable. Excellent choice for a bedroom or smaller living room. I auditioned this bar in my Theater room. Those dimensions are 12Wx28Lx8H. The bar was positioned at ear level and front center. Placing the Sub to the front right side. Setup was very simple - just plug in! Power, HDMI, Sub/Power And off we went! The sound was decent for a soundbar. This particular bar provides 4.1 audio - 4 speakers and 1 sub Overall the volume was PLENTY loud. Although it seemed to really pick up rapidly around 70% with a gradual rolloff below that. The sound quality was good - I would describe it as great highs, decent mids with a higher crossover. I think the crossover was around 120hz. Sub was smooth and had a little punch but nothing crazy. Tested with Spotify and some Xbox games. All were clear and distinctive. Although I did find it a little fatiguing. The sound stage was OK. There is a clear separation in the speakers with 2 centers on the bar and then 2 wide. Utilizing the sidewalls of the room for reflection. This broke up the staging for me in a bad way. But for casual viewing, it works. You do have control of the surround levels. So you can spend some time to better refine for movies vs games. But I would suspect this would be hard for TV shows. i did reduce this to 4 stars for the following reasons: 1. remote is not backlit - it's a good and simple remote. But with selecting input and adjusting anything but volume I needed light! 2. No staging - I could easily tell where the sound was originating. It simply came from the speaker or the sidewall. Clear and loud but directional. Best for a smaller room/bedroom/curio! 3. For my room - the larger MAX! (At time of review they are the same pricing!) OVERALL, Very Good soundbar. Simple, does it job, has 3 HDMI(I have a more expensive ATMOS bar with only 2). LOUD and CLEAR! I would recommend as a buy, if in your main room. Consider the larger size available.

Polk drop the mic please!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've owned a few soundbar/sub-woofer combinations in my day, always looking for the that you will own until it breaks, you know, like a purchase of a car or other big purchases you make during your life. As a family especially right now your spending a lot of time in-front of your TV. Sound is everything when watching ER or Mask Singer, right, you want to be transported to the action and feel like your helping the doctors save Sally from rare disease or identifying a washed up celb with a mask on (really, who thinks this stuff up). Well, sound is going to get you there and here is why Polk is putting you in the middle of the action. Out of the box this system looks ordinary like most soundbar/subwoofer combs on the selves. But, Polk has put there mid-range speakers on the end caps of the soundbar, which actually is a brilliant idea! Push the sound out to bounce off of the walls and into your earholes making the sound more of an immersive feeling, like your there kicking the terminators butt with John Connor. Anyway, my room where I placed mine is small 9x16 which in my opinion is perfect size for this type of setup, now if you have a large room you might go with a full surround sound system BUT I seen where Polk is possibly going to make 2 midrange speaker add-on for this unit. Making it a true 4.1 surround sound system so watch for that. Connecting was fairly easy, I already had google home on my phone so just pulled that app up and follow direction and all done there. I did have one issue and it was with my Xbox. I can't control with my Xbox remote which means won't power on with the press of Xbox button, Polk needs to send an updated list of remote codes to Microsoft. If your TV is controlled by your Xbox the power on/off does not work right now with this system so just have your soundbar remote handy. My experience with hookup 4 stars. Now that everything is connected and powered on, the first thing that was on my radar was the NFL games last weekend. So, I turned it up and hit the "sport" button on the remote and MAN did it deliver! Rich and life like my heart pounding, cheering like I was a 15yr old school girl. Felt like I was there until geico insurance commercial ruined it! It was a little echoy at times but not to bad. After the games we watched some streaming movies so grab the remote I hit "movies" button and again really immersive sound the bass hits really nice which you can control on the remote. There are adjustments for bass level and voice level and that for me is big because some movies you can barely hear the voices so you turn it up to hear and the rest of the movie is to loud. With these two adjustments they have fixed that problem huge problem. My experience with the sound was off the charts 10 stars from me. Bluetooth was easy just hit the button on the remote and follow your phones recommendations on Bluetooth setup. set back and enjoy the richness of the keyboard playing or Eric Clapton shredding a guitar. Added bonus with this unit is it's casting ability, which it allows you to connect to other google speakers so you can keep moving from room to room hearing the music or podcast broadcasting threw out your home. My experience 5 stars BONUS not many others have! There are 3 HDMI connections. On my TV the ARC connection only works with HDMI 2. My other two HDMI won't go thru soundbar (ARC). Polk has given me the ability to play my PS4 and Nintendo thru the soundbar (ARC) input which is just a really good idea. My experience 5stars
