    Synopsis

    Pulp Fiction
Outrageously violent, time-twisting, and in love with language, Pulp Fiction was widely considered the most influential American movie of the 1990s. Director and co-screenwriter Quentin Tarantino synthesized such seemingly disparate traditions as the syncopated language of David Mamet; the serious violence of American gangster movies, crime movies, and films noirs mixed up with the wacky violence of cartoons, video games, and Japanese animation; and the fragmented story-telling structures of such experimental classics as Citizen Kane, Rashomon, and La jetée. The Oscar-winning script by Tarantino and Roger Avary intertwines three stories, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta, in the role that single-handedly reignited his career, as hit men who have philosophical interchanges on such topics as the French names for American fast food products; Bruce Willis as a boxer out of a 1940s B-movie; and such other stalwarts as Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken, Eric Stoltz, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, whose dance sequence with Travolta proved an instant classic. ~ Leo Charney, Rovi

Pulp Fiction was a groundbreaking film in a couple of different ways. It was an independent release and its success opened the door up for all kinds of maverick filmmakers and companies to release films that otherwise would have never been made. It also had a profound stylistic influence. It was a hip movie with sharp dialogue, graphic violence, cool soundtrack and intricate plot lines. In the wake of its success, many movies try to copy this style, but most failed as they lacked Quentin Tarantino's unique vision. Mr. Tarantino was able to pull John Travolta out of a decade long funk and directed him to the finest performance of his career and one that garnered his second Academy Award nomination. He also pushed Bruce Willis to a stellar performance that showed he was more than just an action hero. The cast is first rate including a beguiling Uma Thurman, Ving Rhames, Harvey Keitel, Eric Stolz, Rosanna Arquette and Christopher Walken. The best performance of all is given by Samuel L. Jackson who is absolutely amazing. It was a crime that he did not win the Academy Award for the role. Pulp Fiction is broken up into three parts and includes flashbacks, flash-forwards and twists and turns and some mysteries that are never revealed. It is a rare film that is both stylish and full of substance. The new Collector's Edition is a huge step up from the original edition which offered virtually no extras. The sound and visuals are crisper and cleaner and the extra features are great. One excellent extra is a Siskel & Ebert show dedicated to the Tarantino phenomenon, which looking at it eight years later is quite interesting.

I remember seeing this film when I was about 9 and not really getting it. I didn't understand the narrative structure and half the dialogue but I was 9 and before this, not many films were like this. Since then, I have seen this film more than 100 times and it's still great with great performances, memorable scenes and dialogue, and a killer soundtrack. I am just surprised that it took me this long to own a version of the film. Maybe since I saw it on TV all the time, I just never thought of purchasing it, but the price was right and I got it. The special features alone are worth it. With this film being released so long ago and how much this film penetrated the zeitgeist of its time, there are features and features piled on with the blu-ray. Love the cover but wish there was a special edition cover like a steelcase or even a sleeve. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection if you still haven't.

      Best Quentin Tarantino movie ever

This is undoubtedly Quentin Tarantino's best movie ever, definitely a must-have for your collection. It will not fail to keep your interests as something is going on all the time. The movie intertwines the stories of 3 characters and ties them all together. The witty dialogue, great music, and vibrant characters played by a SUPER STAR cast (Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames AND Samuel Jackson!!! You can't get any cooler than that!) make for the ultimate movie recipe. I have seen this movie countless times and it never gets old! There are SO many one-liners that you will find yourself repeating and making references to. This movie has been spoofed by so many others including The Simpsons. However, be aware that this is an ADULT movie and for mature audiences due to the strong violence, language and mature content. There are some sexually explicit references made in the movie but no sexually explicit scenes. If you enjoyed this movie and have not seen any other Quentin Tarantino movies, then I recommend watching Reservoir Dogs. It is similar in the story style (with the intertwining plot) but not as fast-paced as Pulp Fiction=)

I read about the eco ink printers by Epson, and thought that paying more for the printer up front vs flying through ink(50 bucks a pop) sounded like a good idea. Well My first day of using the printer, it proved it's worth. Normally I could get 35 4x6 prints out of my HP or 8 8x10's and then would need more ink. That is not good if you have to adjust color on prints. Well the Epson, was worth the price. I spent about 20 minutes getting the print settings and color to my liking and went through about 10 test prints. On the HP I would be at 50% ink. The Epson is still full. 6 8x10's and 10 more prints, I'm still at a full level. The quality is great, the ink consumption is low, and I can print a whole lot more. The ink refill prices are good, considering I'll only need to do it once a year or less, and I don't have to worry about my cartridges drying up.

Jules Winnfield: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. I find myself saying this in the shower everyone now and again. If you have been living under a rock for the past 24 years, this should be on the list of things to watch.

      Better than The Godfather

Quentin Tarentino proves to us again that he is a brilliant director with Pulp Fiction. The movie plays different scenes at a time so you gotta follow up, but its all worth it. This is a great film and will keep you watching nonstop. The action and comedic blend of Pulp Fiction is a superb recipe for sheer brilliance. The DVD cover is a flap and opens up to Uma Thurman. Two discs with behind the scenes and deleted scenes its worth it. One of my favorites and if you dont believe how great it is just know Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, and Bruce Willis star in this icon.

While this is just lumped together with the normal Blu-Ray I got lucky and found the last (undented) copy of a Steelbook edition of Pulp Fiction at BB. We all know and love the cult classic. So I'm just going to go on about the case. In my opinion this should have been the cover since the start. They picked a truly iconic scene for the Steelbook cover and does the film must more justice. Its clean and lacking all the other jumbled mess thats on a normal Blu-Ray/DVD/VHS cover for this movie. Seriously one of my favorite steelbooks I own.

Among the reasons I enjoy hanging around Best Buy stores is rummaging through the stack of discounted DVDs with their list price of $3.99 each. Thus, I was so thrilled to find a cheap DVD copy of this 1994 Tarantino classic black comedy which revived John Travolta's career as an A-Lister and placed Samuel L. Jackson on the map as an acting force to be reckoned with. For serious film collectors, this is a must, to be lined up right there with one's copies of "Casablanca" and "The Godfather Trilogy."
