    Punisher: War Zone
Marvel Comics' vigilante character The Punisher gets another big-screen outing in this third film incarnation of the character, this time from Green Street Hooligans director Lexi Alexander. Fueled by revenge and aided by his trusted weapons expert, Microchip (Wayne Knight), vigilante Frank Castle (Rome's Ray Stevenson) turns the New York City streets red with blood as he takes down each and every member of the crime syndicate responsible for the death of his wife and two kids. As the law-appointed "Punisher Task Force" closes in on him, the antihero does battle with Billy Russoti (Dominic West), aka Jigsaw, a nickname given by him to reflect the disfigurement handed to him by Castle. With the help of his psychotic brother, Loony Bin Jim (Doug Hutchison), Jigsaw recruits the criminals of the city to band together to bring down The Punisher, using the wife (played by Dexter's Julie Benz) and daughter of a slayed FBI agent as bait. Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Nick Santora provide the screenplay for the Lionsgate release. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

      Full of suck

This movie started had so little depth to it that a 7 year old could have done better. The plot in its entirety is this: there's a bad guy. He does bad things. The good guy must stop him. Sure if you want to throw in there the typical damsel in distress, I'll give that to you. Maybe. For a little there he goes all emo for shooting the wrong guy. Oh man. So many plot twists I can hardly keep up. Plot = Fail. The dialogue was terrible. I'm pretty sure if they had shot a silent movie it would have been better. Maybe limit it to one syllable words so the director can keep track of everything. There was no character devlopment. At all. The only thing you find out about anyone is that Frank had his family murdered. Wait. Really?! I had no idea... oh. Right. That's like... the basis for the Punisher character... hm. This wasn't a sequal. At all. I was extremely dissapointed. I was hoping for the same punisher at least, maybe some further plot development from the last one, a continuation of the story... something. I got none of that. We get a new Frank Castle, we get a new family, shoot, we even get a new backstory. All of which suck. The violence was over the top. It reminded me of a Quentin Tarantino-style movie. So much violence that it's not even remotely realistic. I realize some people enjoy this.. I think? I never understood that. Whatever. Again, suck. Bottom line: This move is full of suck. Never watch it. Ever. Unless you have one of those terrible movie-nights where you make fun of everything about a movie. The end.

If you like the Punisher comics, especially the Garth Ennis era stuff this is for you. I have never seen any comic movie capture the books so well as this movie. It used so many characters from the books. The film absolutely respects the books. I like that. My biggest complaint about the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movies were the aberrations from the central themes of the Tolkien's original work. The Dark Knight trilogy are better films than this one, I admit, but the changes those movies made from the comics was not fundamentally/thematically different. This movie is the quintessential Punisher. This movie doesn't seem to assume you don't know about the Marvel characters involved, but you don't need to have read dozens of issues of The Punisher to get it either. Not for the squeamish. Don't let the kids watch this. It presents head-on the Punisher's fight fire with fire-power ideal. If you like the Punisher books see it. If not you might like it as an action movie.

Clint Eastwood eat your heart out!!!

I've never seen such a perfect embodiment of the Frank Castle in my life. This was the Punisher movie that true fans were waiting for. This is sure to be a cult classic for years to come.I recommended this movie to a few of my coworkers and it absolutley blew there minds.Ray Stevens presents and good acting was just beyond perfect for this role, this man IS the Punisher.I've been a comicbook fan for years and I'm so glad that they finally gotten it right this time.Sure some people make comparisons to the first two Punisher films but the reason for this is that alot of them know nothing about the Punisher. The plot might have been a little then, but don't watch this movie expecting another Dark Knight.Frank Castle is a vigilante killing machine with no light at the end of his tunnel that blow deserving criminals to smithereens.

      Some jawdroping kills!!

Great picture and sound, this film starts over and has a new origin told in flashbacks (the original origin from the comics). This is a Punisher who has been at it for years and is a brutal force. If you like the MAX comics you will love this and if you don't like comics no worries this is a straight foward tale anyone can follow.I almost gave this a miss because I stopped reading comics but I heard and read good things about it and am more than glad I got this.I think this is one fo thoes gems that sliped by the mainstream due to poor trailer structure and advertising.Highly recommended!!

      Pretty good

There is so much blood in this movie that it makes movies like 30 days of night seem suitable for small children. The storyine is more or less appropriately addressed, but it doesn't address how he met other characters like micro (who is a huge aid to the punisher in the comics). Jigsaw (the bad guy) wasn't all that hardcore as they should have made him, and I'm not talking about his looks. They should have made him more sinister (Jigsaw). It's not as good as iron man, but I would definately say it is better than the previous punisher.

There' s a reason this movie was going to be straight to DVD, because it's terrible. The story was poor, the dialogue was worse, and the only redeeming value was the makeup for Jigsaw looked cool. Aside from that, its a mindless curse and slaughter film. I expect something like that from a Nightmare on Elm St or Friday the 13th movie, but even the last Jason movie had a better story than this. There is a reason it's rated R, so unless your child is in their teens, you shouldn't watch it with them.

Not a very entertaining movie. I'm not sure what the point was with it, but the Punisher character is rather blandly written. I like Ray Stevenson, he's great, but his character doesn't really do too much. It was unfocused and the villains were too cartoonish. The action was good, but there was not much of a story to invest in.

      High Octane Action

This third entry into the Punisher movies is a Winner! For all those who are familiar with the Punisher AKA Frank Castle you will not be dissapointed - NON STOP ACTION TO THE HILT! Great metal soundtrack as well. I saw the film at my local movie movie theatre when it opened, and I will be the first one at your store to buy it when it comes out on DVD shortly. Cannot wait!
