I spoke to a friend who had used both Ancestry and 23andMe. She confirmed that 23andMe provided more information regarding health questions and told me some of the genetic markers that were included in her results. I wanted to purchase the additional health and Ancestry service upgrade and called ahead to be sure I could add this to my order. SURPRISE - They actually have a real person that you can talk to! I too am interested in genetically transmitted markers and diseases. I registered the kit on 1/16, mailed it on 1/17 and it was received on 1/21. My results will be available on 2/4. There is a long questionnaire that you will be asked to complete if you opt for the enhanced service (which can be done in sections), and everything is as confidential as you choose. It is a good idea to have some answers to your family history available before you do the survey, i.e. where parents and relatives were born, etc. Check online for comparisons of other companies that provide this testing. I am looking forward to my results and very pleased with my purchase.
