A:AnswerYes, absolutely the RAM and SSD are upgradable. They are NOT soldered in place... they pop in/out like a normal PC/Laptop.
The laptop has two physical sockets for the RAM, both of which are populated with 8GB Samsung M425R1GB4BB0-CQKOL RAM sticks. (At least that's what came in mine.) I replaced them with two Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16GB 4,800 MHZ sticks (Best Buy SKU: 6516932) and it's been running just fine. Be advised that one of the RAM sticks has an adhesive wrap on it, which I assume is a thermal pad and thin heat sink... I simply moved it over to the new piece of RAM and snapped it into place.
There are two M.2 slots inside, one of which is already populated with the 1TB drive. The 2nd slot is over by the RAM and already has a screw ready to mount your next NVMe drive. I just installed a WD Black SN850 4TB drive (Best Buy SKU: 6512129) and it's working like a champ!
There are eleven screws that you will need to remove to get into the bottom of the laptop. Once removed, flip the laptop over and remove the rear cover piece by the screen/hinges. Use some small pry tools to gently pop them loose. Once that is done, flip it back over and start using the pry tools to get a gap started in the front area, then just gently work the tools around the sides and towards the back of the laptop.
I've added some photos... hopefully they help paint the entire picture.
A:AnswerThe laptop comes with an Acer AP21A5T battery. It's a 15.4 VDC Li-ion battery - TYP 5850mAh, 90Wh, Rated 5690mAh, 87.6Wh.
It has a MUX switch.
The 4060 is about the same as the 3070-Ti. Lighting, Gravity, and Reflection effects are about 5%, 10% and 15% better respectively, but the 4060 has a 21% lead on multi rendering. Overall, that's about a 2% lead by the 3070-Ti based on average scores. The 3070-Ti will also OC a bit better, pushing that whopping 2% gap to 4%. Will you ever notice it gaming? Probably not.
A:AnswerThere is not a lot of room , I don’t know if heat sinks vary in size , I bought the 4tb WD black sn850x and. The heatsink that I got did not fit without exactly perfect , it literally was right against the bottom panel when I put it on you could feel where it was so I removed it and have not had any issues with heat or anything. The ssd has its own software to monitor all that and I do check it out regularly when using the computer longer and when gaming , haven’t had any issues with it heating up yet
A:AnswerVery good. I own and use this for content creation. I have a Video Editing desktop with a RTX4080 but I don't feel like I'm disadvantaged when I'm doing work on the Acer Predator.
A:AnswerI recommend getting an adapter for this laptop. I have family in the Philippines and outlets can be sketchy. On the plus side, if you have a USB-C adapter, it has Thunderbolt so charging it isn't difficult.
Hope this helps!
A:AnswerIf they have Geek Squad there, probably... depends on the location and all of that, obviously.
I just upgraded mine to some Corsair Vengeance 4,800 MHZ DDR5 16GB (x2) for 32 GB total... works great!
There's also a 2nd M.2 slot if you want/need to add another NVMe drive.
A:AnswerI haven’t had this long to give you completely accurate on videos, I do not travel a lot , but I have watched YouTube and other content on this and got between 4-5 hrs , I would add though if I was a traveler this is not the laptop I would want, it is pretty heavy to be carrying around , if you read a lot of the reviews other people agree on that as well. Before I bought this I looked around at a lot of different laptops and saw a few others that were much lighter and maybe not the same specs but pretty close.
I honestly would have went with some others but when is came to the sales they were doing I grabbed this only because it offered best bang for your buck. But again I don’t plan on bringing this with me all over , mostly just home . I would not have bought if I planned on carrying it around frequently because of weight .hope this helps
A:AnswerWifi is 6e. Model:Intel Killer 1650i. Using it with a an AX rated Wireless Router will give you Desktop speeds! I'm getting the same speeds as I would using the network connection for data transfers.
A:AnswerThe graphics card is a good one, Everything I have played on it has looked really Good!! I played overwatch, Sons of the Forest and 7 days to die on max settings and it wasn't slow and looked great!
A:AnswerThe keyboard is quiet but not silent, . The screen is normal. The camera leaves much to be desired, it's enough for video chat no more, it makes a lot of noise in poor light(1080p 16:9 30fps). Audio system: The sound of the built-in speakers will not withstand serious competition; high frequencies are a problem. The headphones are fine.
A:AnswerThe website High Performance Laptops said in April 2023:
"Meanwhile, the 90Wh battery ran our PCMark 10 Modern Office test for 7 hours and 1 minute. That’s a little low for a 13th-Gen laptop, but it’s far from unusable. You’ll need to wind-back all performance and lighting settings and make full use of the power efficiency settings to get close to that."
A:AnswerThis Predator Helios Neo has two M.2 SSD slots, one of which is populated with the shipping 1TB SSD. Our documentation shows both M.2 SSD slots support NVMe.
A:AnswerIt should work and to find the control panel on Windows 11, search for “control panel” in Settings or press the Windows key + R to find it. Select Hardware and Sound, then go to Power Options. On the left-hand side of the screen, you'll see a number of options. Click Choose what closing the lid does. If you need further help with this please feel free to contact Acer support at 866-695-2237. They are available 24/7 for in-warranty products.
A:AnswerThe built in speakers are 2W per channel. The battery is rated at approximately 6 hours but this will depend on how the laptop is being used, ie: light internet browsing versus gaming or streaming.
A:AnswerAcer provides a domestic warranty in the country of purchase and an International Travelers Warranty for the laptop products. This applies to genuine travelers only; if you travel a lot we highly recommend you read the terms and conditions on our website under Support. This page also provides links to the ITW service locations, ITW FAQ, and ITW Service Limitations. Please note if you purchase the system in the US but live outside North America, you will not get a domestic warranty in your country of residence. If local repair and support is important to you, we recommend you purchase the system in the country of residence.
