Sling TV is an Internet based streaming TV service; it contains channels only available through cable. If you have Sling TV, AirTV will integrate your Over the Air channels into the SlingTV service so they’re all available in one place. If you don’t have SlingTV, you can still use AirTV, as it has its own stand-alone app.
You’ll need an external hard drive if you want to record programming. The amount you can record will depend on the size of the hard drive. All you need to do is plug in the drive. AirTV will automatically configure itself.
You use a coaxial cable to connect your OTA antenna, but there’s no coaxial output. The main function of this product is to use your WiFi to stream programming to every TV in your house from a single antenna. Make sure your televisions are capable of supporting the SlingTV or AirTV apps. Most smart TVs do, or if you use a streaming device like Roku or Fire TV, you’ll be fine.
I know this all sounds a bit complicated, but it’s really not. I’m very happy with mine. Good luck!
