You can set a reminder too, like "remind me to take my Rx medicine." Alexa will ask what date, what time. Then, when the date and time approaches, the screen displays and her voice says "This is your reminder to take your medication." (You can set up a recurring reminder). You can ask her what the traffic is like on the way to work and she will tell you (ex: "traffic looks a little heavy; the best route is....", along with a display of how long it will take you to get there.
Sync your calendar with Alexa so she can tell you what is on your schedule.
You can also put the Alexa app on your phone/tablet and add reminders from there. These will then sync with your Show. Example: Set up a reminder on your Alexa app for your spouse to feed Fido at 6 PM. You may not be at home at 6 PM, but your spouse is and will get the reminder on the Echo Show at 6 PM to feed Fido. The reminders will stay on the screen until you dismiss them. And they will keep reminding you until you delete them.
While you are listening to music, you can ask Alexa to increase, decrease the volume of the speaker (which I happen to think has a great sound), or to stop playing music altogether. You can say, "Alexa, play lullaby music" and she will choose a playlist and start playing. You can then say "Alexa, stop playing music in one hour" and she will.
Keep in mind that Alexa is always adding skills and apps.
