Can you set the alarm to be muted from the UPS or do you have to wait until it goes off and/or does it need to be attached to a computer to do this? I have to set all mine to mute because of my dogs and the larger ones can be done from the UPS itself.   (4 Answers)

      Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. The BN450M has a quick mute button which allows you to temporarily silence alarm. You can also configure the unit not to alarm at all using the Power button. No software is required. The steps for silencing the alarm are available in the user guide. http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/AHUG-A7DC9U/AHUG-A7DC9U_R1_EN.pdf?sdirect=true

      Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. The BN450M will recharge its battery. The normal life of the battery will be anywhere from 3-4 years, depending on battery usage, load percentage and operating environment. The batteries in the BN450M are not user replaceable.

      Answer

As a general rule you should only have 1 computer on a UPS unless it is an extremely large unit that can provide network outage notifications (Thousands of dollar units.) Your PC will usually plug into the unit via a USB cable so that the PC can know that its running on battery and how much power is left and turn the PC off when the battery gets low. You can NOT plug 2 PC's into that USB cable and so you would have 1 PC shut off safely and the other would have power terminated abruptly.

  • Question
I have a power recliner that had a battery backup which ran on two 9 volt batteries, will this supply backup power when the power goes out so I do not get stuck in it again? (being handicapped it is not a fun experience trying to get out of the chair)   (5 Answers)

This UPS provides 120v AC power for a period of time when the electric power goes out. Since your original backup was only 2 9v batteries I would say there is enough battery power to lower your chair at least once
