As I answered (just now) the previous questioner, YES! You can add, but I am not sure whether the assembly is now 4, 2-GB chips or 2 4-GB chips with 2 empty slots. If all 4 slots are full, then you would want to replace the 4 2-GB chips with 4 4-GB chips to double the computer’s working memory. Ask someone, or you can find excellent replacement chips by just doing an online search. My son-in-law dreplaced all 4 chips by just following the instructions and video instructions the online site provided. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know my son-in-law upgraded his by purchasing chips online, which came with instructions on just how to proceed. For what I do (no complicated video editing and no gaming), I found the memory installed to be very efficient. I am not a computer geek, but I think there are two additional slots. If this already has 4 2-GB Ram modules, then you might have to replace at least w of the 4, because they may have to be in balance. I would recommend you ask the local store or Apple before you buy. It is not all that expensive since chip prices have come down. If you want additional Hard Drive space, then I would just purchse a solid state unit for photo files or video games. Again, I would ask to make sure which of the large capacity external drives is compatible. Storage is very inexpensive.
