Startup time has more to do with the hard drive than the processor. I had an older iMac with a regular 7200rpm drive. I thought the startup time was OK. UNTIL, I bought an iMac with a fusion drive (part SSD/part 7200 rpm drive). The startup time is so much faster. It would be even faster if I installed a larger SSD drive. But this is plenty fast enough on the startup. I would say I'm typing in my password within 10 seconds of hitting the power button. I am ready to start working within 30-45 seconds after I press the power button.
