You can use this on LTE or Wi-Fi. It will always be on with LTE until you log on to a Wi-Fi network so make sure you always try to find Wi-Fi when possible to avoid using your data from your LTE data plan. Unless you have an unlimited plan, then go nuts!

In other words, one may connect in any of these ways (in order of decreasing battery time): (1) None (no LTE or Wi-Fi) - longest battery life (I do this when just reading something I already downloaded or when playing games). (2) Wi-Fi only - absolutely the best way to go when at home (home Wi-Fi) or at work (corporate Wi-Fi). (3) LTE only - handy when one is traveling or does not wish to use a public Wi-Fi connection (which are usually not secure). (4) Both LTE and Wi-Fi - shortest battery life but essentially seamless connection for those who care not about the cost of things. Also, unless one is need of a constant Bluetooth connection (watch, typing, etc.), turning Bluetooth off also saves battery time.
