If your tc had an hdmi port then it should work, though I’m not sure when hdmi was first available, and…a tv that old might either not have hdmi, or might be some super old version? But for the most part if it has hdmi it should work. There’s no dvr capability on an AppleTV directly, but the YouTube tv cable service has dvr capability, and works with AppleTV.
