    • Answer 3G is part of the cellular network in the US. The Nook WIFI/3G will try to connect to wifi networks first and then look for the 3G cellular signal by AT&T next. • QuestionDoes the eReader screen light up, like a computer screen?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer NOOK features a 6”E ink® Vizplex™ electronic paper screen that reads like a printed page. Instead of a backlit screen like you see on a computer monitor, the E ink screen reads just like paper, even in bright sun. This has the added benefit of extra-long battery life since the E ink screen uses less battery power than a backlit screen, so you can read for days. If you do intend to read NOOK in dimly lit rooms or at night, there are a wide variety of booklights available for you to customize NOOK and help light your reading experience!

  • QuestionSocial networking?Am I able to access facebook via the 3G? Or is the 3G solely for shopping in the Barnes and Noble stores? Does anybody know if they are planning on releasing a new version anytime soon, or if they are planning on making apps available via android? Thanks!

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer While a basic beta edition web browser is available via the Wi-Fi connection on both the 3G+WiFi and WiFi models, it is intended mainly to enhance the reading experience. Unfortunately, at this time there are no Facebook specific applications for NOOK although we are always taking user feedback into account for future upgrades and enhancements.

  • QuestionHow long am I able to access a book I have downloaded? How long is it stored on my NOOK? Does the downloaded file reside on my NOOK or on a file server somewhere? What is downloaded to the NOOK? The whole book or just a 'key' that allows my NOOK access to a particular book?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Once you purchase a NOOKbook, you have access to it for forever via your Lifetime Library. Your Lifetime Library lives on our servers and any books contained within that library can be downloaded locally to your NOOK device. Once you have finished reading a book, you have the option of leaving it on your device or deleting the local copy to free up memory on your NOOK. However, you can always re-download any book again from your Lifetime Library to your NOOK device.

WHILE BN.COM GIVES USERS INSTANT ACCESS TO OVER 1 MILLION EBOOKS, WITH NOOK YOU HAVE THE FLEXIBILITY TO LOAD YOUR OWN CONTENT IN ANY OF THE SUPPORTED FORMATS: EPUB, PDF AND PD FOR EBOOKS; JPG AND GIF FOR GRAPHICS LIKE PICTURES AND SCREENSAVERS; AND MP3 FOR MUSIC AND AUDIO BOOKS.

  • QuestionWhat are the differences between COLORNOOK and Nook 3G+WiFi, besides the obvious color?

    Asked by trying to decide.

    • Answer There are a few key differences between the two devices. First, there is a larger selection of magazines for the NookColor because you can actually see the pictures on the NookColor. Second, the children's book feature is probably one of the most important differences. There are more children's picture books available and many have the options for the child to either read the books themselves or have it read to them by the device. Also, the web browser on the NookColor is more of a fully functioning browser as opposed to the Nook 3G+WiFi.
