Yes you can answer calls and if the noise is minimal it will be cancelled but if extremely loud and close to your call it will be heard. These are great for workouts and answering when you can’t use your phone.

These do work well for that, the background noise is still there, but not a huge amount
These are great for exercising, and very clear for talking on the phone, but the sound is very lacking in the bass end. For serious music listening they're basically rubbish. My wife has a pair and loves them for talking on the phone or working out.
