I just plugged this into a Samsung a-20 and into my new car, it's charging now with the engine shut off(you must see the lightning bolt on the phone.)
...Will this put too much a drain on my car battery if I let it charge overnight??

I wouldn't do that. I actually did that a few years back and my car wouldn't start after charging the phone! (I might have had a crappy battery in the car but I sure was surprised.)

It probably like most chargers dont leave plugged in if your not actually charging anything

It should be fine. Your phone will be charged in 45 minutes or less.
Also a lot of newer cars will turn off accessories in 15-20 minutes after you turn off your motor.
