• They are specific to a brand. The windows ones will cause lockups in the volume control.

• You mean you bought the Non-Apple version? The pause and play, Aware Mode, and noise canceling comtroller buttons should all work. There are no volume buttons.

• The difference between the QC20 and QC20i headphones is that the QC20i's include volume controls specifically for Apple products. The QC20's are still compatible with the iPhone 5S, though do not include volume controls. We hope this helps.
