A:Answer Greetings half nylon half steel... * E (LOW), A and the D strings are steel * G, B and the E (HIGH) strings are nylon. purchased for my 4 yr old granddaughter... i feel she will out grow it fast but that’s my opinion. I just posted my review check it out that’s IF it gets posted ... FYI hard to tune/ keep tuned & it’s prettier than it sounds Hope this helps & STAY SAFE
