It doesn't do that, it averages the rooms, so for example, i have the ecobee4 in my family room area, I have one sensor in my office, the 2 rooms i use most, so i have it set so it averages the 2 areas. Usually its 2to3 degrees warmer in my office, so basically when im in there yes it makes the other rooms cooler by 1to2 degrees, but unless your house is really poorly insulated, it shouldnt effect you to much. Only reason its warmer in my office because there is 3 windows and a skylight facing west... I also have 1 other sensor in my bedroom, as thats facing east, if i decide to sleep in, it knows(intgrated with smartthings) to keep my room cooler as i sleep and as the sun rises. Setting up these things isnt for ur average user. Took about 2to3 hours to do this and work flawlessly, but well worth it.
