    • Answer There's no burnt flavor. The element heats very evenly, so there isn't that burnt flavor that happens like you'd get when you leave a pit of coffee on a heating element. The biggest thing I notice is A) If you leave it in there a long time and use half and half, the heat will separate the fats in the half and half and they float to the top and make a film. I now use fat-free half and half and don't have the same issue, but I notice after an hour or so the taste does change a little, almost like it's the cream that's getting old from the extended heat. But if you drink faster than an hour, it doesn't create an issue. B) If you do use cream and leave a very small residual amount in the mug, it will continue to heat and form a sludge. Though it's easy to clean with some soap and water. I still highly recommend the mug. I like not having a cold cup of coffee sit there and go to waste as I'm working.
