The fridge is not magnetic but magnets stick to it. Generally speaking the better the stainless steal, the less a magnet will stick to it. True quality stainless steel does not allow magnets to stick at all. The higher concentrations of chromium used in making stainless steel makes the ferrous components in the steel less able to have magnetic properties. So the fact that magnets stick to this fridge, means that it is also more susceptible to rust than high-quality-high chrome stainless steel. Still I think the stainless stee;option is a better option than just painted steel. Beatnik
