So If I buy a GPS with bluetooth capability and live traffic updates, the unit will only provide live traffic through my cell phone? The data use on the phone would be a constant draw wouldnt it? I am trying to decide which unit I want/need.   (4 Answers)

I have great Bluetooth connection in my Accord. Can I just use my phone for the live traffic without using it for calls, texts, etc.? Is the live traffic on all the time when my phone is connected through the app or can I selectively turn it on? Thanks.   (1 Answer)

      Answer

It is possible to turn off phone calls through your Garmin device, so that calls can be taken through your phone instead. The traffic service can still be used in this case. Traffic through Smartphone Link is always active as long as the application is running on your phone. -MH

Yes it does :) It's happens pretty quickly, there's a very small delay when it's expecting you to take a ramp and you didn't take it or example. But then it adjusts and will reroute you.

      Answer

Good question! The amount of cellular data used by Smartphone Link traffic services is generally minimal, but it does vary depending on a variety of factors such as: • Time used with the automotive device • Amount of reported traffic information 2MB of data per hour of active use with an automotive device is a reasonable estimate for data usage, in most situations. Answer

No, neither the DriveSmart™ 60 nor the DriveSmart™ 61 LMT-S include any truck specific routing. The Garmin dēzl™ series includes detailed maps for North America that also include truck-related restrictions – like bridge heights, sharp curves, weight limits and more – and related information for most major roads and highways. Thanks, James

      Answer

Yes, this model includes the feature to record a Trip Log (tracks) that can be displayed on the map screen. The Trip Log is essentially an "electronic breadcrumb" trail that shows you where you've been whenever the device is turned on and has acquired satellites. Thanks, James
