There is a flexible (gel-like) tacky pad under the hard base cover. I have only had mine for a few weeks now and still has good resistance to sliding on my slick, pebbly grain textured dash. I find that it resists sliding better than my sandbag-like mounts which have a firmer rubbery contact surface.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s made of weighted rubber, and can bend to the curvature of your dash. We bought this and I think it works better than the typical sandbag design that has been used in the past. It’s not sticky so you don’t have to worry about it messing up your dashboard, but the rubber produces enough friction that it doesn’t slide around. It works really well. I highly recommend this for your Garmin.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was a bit skeptical when I purchased this and was ready to take it back if it didn't work but it really works. I have the bean bag mount and never really liked it as it was so big and bulky to use and store. This mount is small and stays put. It will make the bean bag a thing of the past. I would recommend that when not in use to keep the bottom part covered with the plastic sheet it comes with to keep it free from picking up dust. Good product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We use it on our SUV and it holds quite well. The bottom is similar to those plastic sticky rollers used for lint.
