can this washer and the matching dryer be stacked?   (2 Answers)

I have a compact space ideally made for washer/dryer units, however i do not like the options out there for the units. I would like a nicer washer/dryer combo.

    • Question

I live in a small apartment and I love that the washer is small to fit in the space I need it to, but I am curious if it would wash a full size comforter. No sheets, no other bedding would be added with it, just strictly the comforter.

        Answer

I would definitely *not* try to wash a comforter in this thing, but what's the worst thing that could happen? You'd have to drag it out, wet, wring it out and then take it to a commercial laundry to get finished. The drum is way too small. I wash my king set of linens all at once, and it's fine, but I don't think a comforter would be such a great idea.

Why does the detergent container filled with detergent and water after the washer is finished?   (1 Answer)

          Answer

Hi Al-I can certainly understand your concern regarding the detergent dispenser on your frontload washer WCVH4800KWW. You may see water in the bleach and fabric softener compartments at the end of the cycle. This is a result of the flushing/siphoning action and is part of the normal operation of the washer. Only use high-efficiency detergent in this washer. Use the detergent manufacturer’s recommended amount. Do not fill above the MAX line. The detergent compartment is in the left side of the dispenser drawer. The detergent cavity (cup removed) is used for powder detergent, and the detergent cup is used for liquid detergent. Powder Detergent – Remove the detergent cup and pour the suggested amount of powder detergent into the detergent cavity. Liquid Detergent – Leave the detergent cup in the drawer and pour liquid detergent into the cup. Do not fill above the MAX line. Detergent may build up in the dispenser drawer. Residue should be removed once or twice a month. Remove all cups and inserts from the dispenser drawer. Rinse the inserts, cups and drawer with hot water to remove traces of accumulated laundry products. To clean the drawer opening, use a small brush to clean the recess. Remove all residue from the upper and lower parts of the recess. Return inserts to the proper compartments. Replace the dispenser drawer. To reduce buildup in the Dispenser Drawer area, use only HE High-Efficiency detergent If you still need assistance, we encourage you to contact GE Consuner Service at 1-800-432-2737. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for checking with us.

          Answer

Hi Sami- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Front Load Washers! We have not tested other brand pedestals with this model. For safety, we are unable to recommend the use of a pedestal. Check out model GFWN1600JWW with Optional Pedestal Accessory SBSD137HWW (Sold Separately). Also, our RightHeight models GFWR4800FWW and GFWR2700HWW feature a 7" built-in pedestal that allows you easier access to your laundry without the added expense of buying a separate pedestal. Answer

Hello - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. We do not have the number of gallons of watr when full, but to obtain the average water usage of our washers, we can look at the water factor (WF or iWF). The iWF is a calculation defined by the Department of Energy (DOE) and all manufacturers are required to publish this information. For Average Water Usage, calculate: Water Factor x Capacity = Average Water Usage. In this case the iWF is 4.1, so 4.1 x 2.2 Capacity = 9.02 Average Water Usage. I hope this helps!
