Hi Jkc- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our French-door Refrigerators! Sometimes you will see two refrigerators with the same exterior dimensions but they have different capacities. We may use the same case; however, the liner is smaller on the model with the smaller capacity. Thanks for checking with us!

This fridge is not finger print resistant. But it's very handy to just buy stainless steel cleaning wipes.

Hi. Where is the ice maker if the french doors are part of the refrigerator and not the freezer? I know the ice comes out of the door but puzzled on the ice maker. How does it stay frozen? Thanks   (3 Answers)

      Answer

Hi Helcha- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! GFE26GSKSS features a space-saving icemaker. The icemaker is located in the fresh food section, on the left fresh food door. The Space Saving icemaker stores 3.8 lbs. of ice that can be dispensed through the ice and water dispenser on the door, or by removing the ice bucket from the door. The icemaker in the door needs cold air from the freezer to operate. There are vents on the left side of the refrigerator that meet up with vents on the side of the icemaker casing on the door. The top vent supplies the icemaker compartment with cold air from the freezer when the door is closed. You may feel cold air coming from the top vent when the door is open. The icemaker area needs air flow, so the bottom vent is for return air. Air from the icemaker air is channeled back into the freezer through this duct. You will not typically feel cold air coming from this vent. We hope this is helpful. Love the look of a stainless steel kitchen? Answer

Hi JC- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! Our refrigerators continue to be designed with as quiet a performance as possible. Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. Also, different kitchen layouts will produce different sounds due to the type of flooring, cabinetry, wall and insulation behind the refrigerator, acoustics within the kitchen, food loads, etc. Thanks for checking with us!

I'm wondering how "shiny" the black version of this refrigerator is. Is it sort of a matte finish (like the slate color) or is it shinier (like black patent leather)? Can you see yourself in it, almost like a black mirror?   (2 Answers)
