Yes, it needs power. The only 2 outdoor camera's Best Buy carries that's truly wireless is the Ring system, and the Arlo.
The expression "wireless" does not refer to electricity when referring to internet devices, it refers to whether or not the device can connect to the internet without a Cat5 cable. In this case the camera connects to the internet without a cable but still requires electricity to power the device. There is no wireless internet connected device that I am aware of that doesn't also require power to the device to operate, including the Ring doorbell device by the way. Some of the earlier internet connected cameras gave the option of using either Cat5 cable or going wireless, most often they worked unreliably when not using cable.
The video is transmitted wirelessly. It still requires power.
The power is to run the camera, the wireless is to get the image to the internet.
George, Camera is not wireless, it needs to be plugged into a power source to operate.
