      Answer

Yes, this has a flat 3 prong plug in. Once plugged in it maybe sticks out about a half inch from the wall. Its also offset, so you can plug it into a top outlet and still use the bottom outlet as well.

Insignia™ - 12-Outlet Surge Protector Model: NS-PWS5129SKU: 5741033 In the instruction booklet it warns to not use this product unless your wall plug is at least 30 feet from the electric panel box. Why? please.   (5 Answers)

        Answer

I would guess the closer to the panel, the higher the surge possible. Amperage drops in the line after a certain distance and 30' is probably a safe distance to allow your SP to work best. Since surges come from many places other than lightning, you can better protect yourself by making sure your home, telephone, and cable wiring is properly grounded, and whenever possible, use a dedicated line for your computer and devices.

That is correct. If you use multiple outlets, you want as high a rating as you can afford.
