      Answer

Put your old drive in this case and plug it in, all that it takes. Then leave the old hard drive there for a nice external backup drive. Yes, it should work for you.

        Answer

The device does not have any storage capacity. It is an empty hard drive caddy which can be used to transfer files between hard drives by turning the laptop hard drive into an external drive.

My hard drive doesn't slide into the enclosure easily. Should I return my product?   (10 Answers)

I bought this product for my Macbook Pro hard drive, and I can't get the hard drive into the enclosure easily. I don't want to force it. The peg on the side of my hard drive runs into the rib on the inside of the enclosure, and it won't slide easily in. This is only the case on one side of the enclosure. Is my enclosure defective, and should I return it to the store?

            Answer

Hi, when you remove your hard drive from a MacBook, there will be 4 little lugs screwed into the casing of your hard drive. They need to be removed first and then the hard drive should slide right in.

              Answer

Yes you can, however it only supports SATA II and is very slow. I would find something that supports SATA III. I cloned two HDD's to SSD's with it and it worked.

is it compatible with Windows 10?   (10 Answers)

The side of the box says it will work for Windows XP,Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1. I'm assuming it will work with windows 10 but just want to make sure before I open the package. Will I have any issue since I took the hard drive out of my laptop that was running on Windows 7 and will plug it into my new new laptop running Windows 10?

Why no Windows 10? I just returned empty-handed after driving 8 miles RT to buy this product. The box lists Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. The store associate said, "It will not work on 10. I know personally because I tried it."   (5 Answers)

No. No AC needed. It receives power through the USB port. Just install a 2.5 in drive in the enclosure, Plug in the USB cable in the device and computer and computer will find the drive.

                    Answer

2.5" inch is the standard laptop hard drive size. They vary by thickness usually. A 3.5" drive would be for a magnetic desktop hard drive. A 1.8" or micro sata have different interfaces.
