Hi Matt. I like having the volume controls on the side. I found it super quick to learn to use the remote control without having to look at it every time I need to press a key - a real joy compared to remotes with tons of keys, At my house I have about 100 over the air channels and I'm able to change quickly to the ones I like by hiding channels I never watch and using the popup channel list (press the Left key while watching the tuner) to jump to the channel I want.
The BEST, most responsive, easiest-to-pair, problem free, never-have-to-press-a-button-twice, never comes unpaired, fastest experience with a Roku remote EVER, hands down. It is bewildering to me how or why this is, but it is.
I don't have cable so the only remote I have for TV is the Roku remote provided with the TV. The volume buttons on the side don't bother me, but the lack of a number pad means scrolling channels rather than keying them in. Also, the TV has no feature to delete channels I do not want. Responsive interface and great picture quality. It's not my main TV, so I can live with the limitations.
