I certainly hope the bowl lifter version is not being discontinued! I consider that to be an indispensable feature on my decades old Pro Line mixer with a 7 quart bowl. If it ever dies it will definitely be replaced with another bowl lifter model. The bowl lifter feature attaches the bowl very rigidly to the lifter frame, ensuring rock solid stability during use with simple detachment when done. My mixer, like many others mentioned in these posts, Was too tall to fit under our 1970's vintage kitchen cabinets when we first bought it. So when we remodeled several years later an important spec was clearance between counter top and upper cabinet bottoms. We specified this at 1/2 inch greater that the height of the mixer. We never store the mixer on the counter top but the clearance is handy when we need to push the mixer back out of the way temporarily during food preparation. The mixer is stored in a large floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinet with four shallow slide-out drawers in the bottom section. Height from the top of the top drawer to the bottom rail of the upper cabinet is, you guessed it, 1/2 inch greater than the height of the mixer. Making the height of the mixer any less than it is would definitely sacrifice utility of the machine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For those who want to keep their mixer on the counter, models with bowl lifter are taller and often will not fit under upper cabinets.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure if it's being discontinued. I purchased mine on Black Friday and it has the bowl lift. There isn't a disadvantage for me with this feature. Simply lift the bowl up with the lever when you want to mix. I suppose if you forgot to lift it, it could be a disadvantage as you'd spray whatever your mixing everywhere. But that's your own fault. I have heard good things about using a tilt head. Mine was claimed to be a tilt head with bowl lift and only came with lift. I'm told that with a tilt head you don't have to remove whatever attachment your using to remove the bowl. The artisan has this and it's a neat feature but by no means is a disadvantage of the simple bowl lift without a tilt head. Bowl lift without tilt head you have to remove the attachment before removing the bowl. So it's really what you preference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you are used to the classic model with the lift head it does take a little getting used to a bowl lift model.. Have had mine almost 2 months now & really don't find it difficult. The only negative I would say is I find it a little harder to scrape the sides of the bowl as well as I'd like
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just got a bowl lift model, I don't have anything negative to say. I have low cupboards and a tilt mixer would not work/fit that is why I chose the lift bowl.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't found a negative. Maybe it isn't trendy?? Food network mostly use tilting head models but this model works great
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure if it's being discontinued but the only negative is that it won't fit under the cabinet on the counter. You will have to store it somewhere else.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is possible that this particular model of mixer MAY be discontinued either by KitchenAid or Best Buy, however that doesn't mean that KitchenAid is discontinuing ALL bowl-lift models. Hardly the case! The bowl-lift feature is one of KitchenAid's most popular features, and is not likely to ever be discontinued. No other brand of consumer mixers offers a bowl-lift feature, although it is a common feature of commercial mixers used in restaurants and bakeries As you may know, KitchenAid offers several bowl sizes within the bowl-lift series, from between five and eight quart capacity. Most have a stainless steel bowl, but some recent models are now coming from the factory with a clear glass bowl. Those glass bowl models are now popular on many of the cooking shows on the PBS/Create channel, on TV. The viewer can see the recipe ingredients being added and mixed in during the mixing process. All manufacturers of products will make changes to models over time, either to improve the product, or to match features offered by the competition. Some differences are minor, such as a black plastic speed control knob and bowl-lift handle versus a chrome-plated knob and handle on the uppermost series - definitely not a big deal - or. more importantly, possibly a larger horsepower motor that is more capable of mixing heavy or bulky ingredients., or a transmission that uses metal gears versus plastic gears inside the unit. if this particular model is being discontinued by KitchenAid, it's likely that a newer version is in the works, and KitchenAid needs to clear this model out of the retail pipeline to make room to a newer version. KitchenAid may have likely cut the wholesale price to all authorized dealers to achieve that goal. Or, maybe Best Buy has decided to stop carrying this model in order to carry a different model of mixer from KitchenAid, or to make room on the retail shelf for another new product altogether. In any event, the fact that the product MAY be discontinued does not make it a bad product. It is a machine, after all, and it is built to the same high standards and expectations of performance as it was when it was first introduced. It does not go "bad" as does an old loaf of bread or week-old ground beef. If one can live with the features that are on the mixer, it has become an outstanding value, with the price reduction. Buy it and enjoy the mixer in your kitchen as well as the money saves in the purchase.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.i would say that, the way you push the bowl to put it in place is kind of hard, and trickie sometimes you even need to hold the mixer with ur hands so it doesnt move while push in the bowl in place.i would also recomend to have a hand mixer to make small portions in different bowls, other than that is really strong mixer i love it,
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.nothing really it is a little smaller than the 6 quart and still has 525 watts power it is being discontinued but I am glad I got one on sale before it was unavailable
