The Duet runs Chrome OS, so yes it is able to access Microsoft Word though it'll be the Android version which you can get through the Google Play Store. It is capable enough for light-work - editing word documents, creating all-text documents etc. You can also access Office Online through the Chrome browser.

It can run the Android or Web version of Microsoft Word.

Since the operating system is Chrome OS, you can't install any Microsoft Windows software on it. You can use Office365 in the browser or Microsoft's Android apps.
