It is running an M series processor which is not as powerful as the i5 but offers a longer battery life for the system as it consumes less power. There is one USB port on the system but you can always purchase a small USB hub for additional ports for cheap.

This is the Core m3 model which actually gets worse battery life than the i5 even while being rated with low power consumption because this has to use its turbo more often to get the same work done. The i5 is rated at 13.5 hrs while the m3 sees around 11 hrs This has 1 USB type-A port
